Tata Motors to Hike ICE Vehicle Prices by 0.5% from April 1
Google News

Tata Motors has announced a marginal price revision across its Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) passenger vehicle portfolio. Effective April 1, 2026, the average increase will stand at approximately 0.5% of the previous price. This adjustment specifically targets the brand's petrol, diesel and CNG-powered models, while the electric vehicle (EV) lineup is exempted.
Offsetting Rising Input Costs
The primary reason behind this price increase is the consistent pressure from rising input costs. Tata Motors stated that the revision is done to offset the increased expenses related to raw materials, logistics and manufacturing components. While the average hike is 0.5%, the actual increase will vary depending on the specific model and variant chosen.
Based on current ex-showroom prices, the price adjustment is estimated to range between ₹2,285 and ₹12,980. The following table illustrates the expected impact across Tata’s popular ICE models:

Strategic Exemption for EVs
While the ICE portfolio sees a rise, Tata Motors has strategically decided to "spare" its electric vehicles. This move highlights the brand's commitment to maintaining its leadership in the EV segment. By keeping prices stable for models like the Nexon EV, Punch EV, and Tiago EV, Tata aims to:
- Maintain Momentum: Continue the strong sales trajectory seen in Q1 2026.
- Encourage Adoption: Bridge the price gap between traditional engines and electric alternatives.
- Counter Competitors: Remain aggressive against new entrants like the Hyundai Creta EV and Maruti eVX.
Tata Motors’ decision to implement a modest 0.5% hike reflects a balanced approach to managing inflationary pressures without deterring potential buyers. Another possibility might be that Tata Motor wants to deflect its customers’ inclination more towards the EV section.
