Maruti Swift

Maruti hasn't reinvented the Swift's design with this update. It's evolved the look gradually rather than starting from scratch and that restraint works in its favour.

• The 15-inch dual-tone alloys look good, though the general consensus was that a 16-inch set would round off the stance even better.
  
   
• A palette of bright, flashy colour options keeps it from disappearing into traffic, even if it's not the kind of car that makes heads turn on its own.

Design and Ergonomics

Maruti Swift Interior especially the cabin styling stays simple. It shares some visual DNA with other Maruti products like the Baleno, but it's genuinely hard to fault on packaging or ergonomics.

• Quality feels solid since there’re no rattles, no loose panels, no fit-and-finish complaints even after you drive thousands of kilometers of hard, sustained use.
• Mostly plastic with light leatherette inserts: nothing that'll make you go "wow," but nothing that disappoints either.
• The black theme is simple but low-maintenance, unlike some of its stablemates.
• The central dash panel tilts slightly toward the driver, making it easy to reach AC controls, the infotainment screen and vents on the move.

Infotainment and Connectivity

• The 9-inch touchscreen does exactly what it's meant to. The UI feels a touch dated, but it stays easy to use.
  

• Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connect quickly, without fuss.
• The 6-speaker system won't give you a premium surround feel, but it stays crisp even at higher volumes and EQ/balance settings let you tune it to taste.
  

Space and Seating Comfort

Baleno comes with a seating capacity of 5 which is decent for a mid sized family. As far as quality and other convenience is concerned, that too also gives occupant good satisfaction.

The seats themselves are a genuine highlight since they are large, comfortable and supportive enough to hold you properly in place. Controls are also handy since they fall naturally in your hand.

Decent for a car this size, though it could've been better with minimal effort.

• Two adults fit comfortably, but a central armrest would've helped.
• Knee room, foot room, and even headroom for taller passengers are all adequate.
• Under-thigh support is enough for average-sized adults.
• Front visibility is slightly obstructed by the tall headrests.
• A third passenger only really works for short trips or with smaller occupants.
  

• 1-litre bottle pockets up front, 500 ml pockets in the rear doors.
• Wireless charging pad on the centre console with two cupholders tucked behind it.
  
• Decent-sized glovebox, though the seatback pocket is only behind the front passenger seat.
• A dedicated slot for storing your phone in the central console.

• USB Type-A port and a 12V socket for front occupants.
• A USB Type-C port shared with rear passengers via the central tunnel.
   

The Baleno offers boot space of 265 litres which isn't massive, but smart packing makes it work well.

• Large suitcases cover up space fast but smaller, cabin-sized trolleys fit far more comfortably.
• The boot is deep enough to swallow plenty of smaller items, and a boot lamp plus a hook for light bags are nice everyday touches.
• 60:40 split-folding seats add flexibility for longer items, though a flatter floor would make loading easier.

The Swift isn't chasing segment-first tech, but what it does offer is executed well enough that you rarely have a complaint. Here’s Maruti Suzuki Swift Features really do good.

• Keyless entry request-sensor buttons on both the driver and passenger doors. This is honestly a convenient touch most rivals reserve for the driver alone.
• HUD is honestly an out of the box add-on in a car of an affordable section.
• Cruise control is enjoyable on long drives.
• Auto AC, auto ORVMs, rear AC vents and auto headlights all work perfectly.
• Steering-mounted controls for the MID display are conspicuously missing which would've made navigating menus that much easier.
   

• Panel fit and overall build quality feel like the best they've ever been on a Swift.
• No rattles or loose fittings even after sustained, harsh real-world use, including full loads and rough roads.
• Maruti has spoken about safety improvements with this update, though how that translates could only be confirmed by Maruti Swift safety ratings which hasn't been confirmed by crash-test results yet.

Powertrain Options

There's just one engine offered, a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated 3-cylinder petrol, paired with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT, producing around 80 bhp.

• Losing a cylinder from the previous generation had people worried about both performance and mileage. But, Maruti turned down those conceptions because the usable performance doesn't feel noticeably diminished.
• Real world Swift mileage is also impressive: 16 km/l in city testing, 22 km/l on the highway. Even under harsh, fully-loaded conditions with hard acceleration and braking, it still averaged close to 15 km/l.
• It sounds composed, smooth for a 3-cylinder unit rather than stressed, even under hard acceleration.

City Driving

• Easy in traffic, helped by a light clutch and a short, slick manual shift.
• Second gear pulls cleanly from 20-70 kmph, so you rarely need to plan overtakes in the city.
• The AMT is perfectly fine for relaxed city driving, but it disappoints the moment you want to have some fun with it.
• The idle start-stop system can be genuinely irritating in stop-go traffic. The restart lag is enough that most testers switch it off first thing.

Highway Driving

• Settles naturally over expansion joints and level changes and drives comfortably even at triple-digit speeds
• Acceleration beyond 70-80 kmph feels noticeably light (not underpowered exactly), but overtakes need a bit more planning.
• On hilly terrain with a full load, it won't overtake in top gear. You'll need to downshift, and even then, speed builds up gradually.
• The AMT needs even more advance planning, since it's slower to react and downshift. The manual is the one to pick if you enjoy driving

Ride Quality

• Genuinely comfortable around town. You would barely feel potholes, speed breakers, and rough patches from inside.
• The suspension does its job silently, and doesn't get flustered even with a full load
• Only scraped occasionally over larger rocks at remote, off-the-beaten-path locations while fully loaded
• Rear passengers may notice slightly more vertical movement over uneven surfaces, though it never tips into uncomfortable

Handling

• Steering is light and easy around town, and weighs up nicely at speed for genuine highway confidence
• Still lives up to the Swift's reputation for being chuckable and precise through corners
• Stays composed and stable even over broken tarmac and expansion joints at speed.
