Mahindra Vision S and Vision X Spotted Ahead of Launch: Key Things to Know
Google News

Mahindra is set to launch new SUVs in the competitive Indian market. The upcoming Vision S and Vision X were spotted testing ahead of their official unveiling. Both SUVs belong to the “Freedom_NU” family and were showcased as concepts last year.
The latest sightings reveal production ready design details from the upcoming models. The Vision S is expected to sit between the XUV 3XO and Scorpio. Meanwhile, the Vision X could become Mahindra’s next sub 4m SUV and target buyers looking for a smaller model.
Mahindra Vision S: Rugged SUV Design
The Vision S has been spotted testing with heavy camouflage. However, several exterior details are visible from recent test mules.
- Square LED headlamp elements inspired by the concept
- Upright stance and squared off bodywork
- Rear mounted spare wheel for a rugged appearance
The Mahindra car is designed to support petrol, diesel and electric powertrains. A previous test mule featured what appeared to be an AdBlue filler cap. This suggests that a diesel engine could be offered.
Mahindra has confirmed that the platform will support internal combustion and electric powertrains. However, detailed engine specifications are still undisclosed.
Cabin Could Stay Close To Concept
Earlier spy shots have provided glimpses of the Vision S cabin. The production SUV could retain several concept inspired elements.
- Uniquely styled AC vents
- Physical shortcut buttons
- Redesigned seats
- Three spoke steering wheel
- Panoramic sunroof
- 60:40 split folding rear seat
The concept also featured a modern dual screen dashboard. However, Mahindra has not confirmed the final equipment list.
Mahindra Vision X Could Target Sub 4m Buyers
The Vision X is expected to be the smallest model among the four Freedom_NU concepts. It could sit above the XUV 3XO or potentially replace it. Mahindra has already filed the Vision X design patent in India. The patented design remains close to the concept showcased last year.
Key design elements expected include:
- Sporty proportions
- Aggressive front fascia
- Sculpted side panels
- Sharp rear profile
- Sleek exterior mirrors
The Vision X could receive petrol and electric powertrains. The electric version is expected to arrive before the petrol powered model.
It could eventually replace the XUV 3XO EV as Mahindra’s sub 4m electric SUV. The model could face competition from the Tata Nexon and other compact SUVs.
What This Means For Buyers
The two SUVs could expand Mahindra’s choices across different sizes and powertrains. However, pricing, specifications and launch timelines remain unconfirmed.
The Vision X could suit buyers wanting a smaller SUV. The Vision S may appeal to those seeking more space and rugged styling.
