Electric PV Retail Sales Soar 76.47% YoY in October 2026: FADA Report

The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) has released the Electric Passenger Vehicle (PV) retail sales report for October 2026. There’s a strong year-on-year (YoY) growth of 76.47% compared to October 2025 EV sales. This is due to the 37,049 unit sales this October vs 20,995 units registered in October 2025. Month-on-month (MoM) sales also grew by 2.61% over September 2026 (36,108 units), pushing the total EV market share in passenger vehicles to 7.3%.

OEM Performance & Key Market Highlights

Tata Passenger Electric Mobility maintains its dominant lead in the segment, securing 14,669 units in October 2026. This marks a massive 77.61% YoY growth. Mahindra & Mahindra captured second place with 8,538 units (up 85.65% YoY), while JSW MG Motor India logged 5,939 units (up 10.80% YoY).

New entrant VinFast Auto India registered impressive momentum with 2,571 units, while Kia India recorded 1,395 units (up 85.26% YoY). Additionally, Maruti Suzuki India continued its EV market footprint expansion with 1,200 units in retail sales. Luxury brands like BMW India (462 units) and Tesla India (291 units) also contributed to the overall record volume.

A massive 76.47% YoY jump indicates that improved battery ranges, competitive EV pricing and expanding charging infrastructure are successfully driving adoption. With festive demand spilling into November, we expect electric vehicle retail momentum to remain on an upward trajectory through the end of the year.
