Volkswagen has revealed the exterior of the Virtus facelift in India on November 5, 2026, ahead of its expected December launch. The updated Volkswagen Virtus gets revised bumpers, redesigned alloy wheels and additional parking assistance features.
This marks the sedan's first major update since its Indian debut in 2022. The company is also expected to introduce new cabin features and gearbox options.
Volkswagen Virtus Facelift: What's New in the Design?

The Virtus facelift receives several styling changes, mainly around the front and rear sections. The front bumper features a new mesh pattern with diamond shaped design elements. It also gets redesigned fog lamp housings and an updated grille.
The existing headlamp units appear unchanged and continue with integrated LED daytime running lights. The grille features an illuminated Volkswagen logo and a GT badge.
The side profile remains largely familiar. However, the Volkswagen car gets redesigned 16 inch black alloy wheels on the GT variant. Other variants are expected to receive dual tone alloy wheels.
At the rear, Volkswagen has retained the existing tail light design. However, the updated model gets a revised lower bumper, smoked tail lights and a boot lid lip spoiler. The GT variant also features red badging.
A new blue exterior shade and dual tone paint scheme are also visible in the revealed images.
New Features: 360 Degree Camera and Parking Sensors
One major addition is the 360 degree camera system, which will make parking easier in tight spaces. The updated sedan also gets front parking sensors.
The brand has not revealed the complete cabin yet. However, the interior could receive features similar to those in the updated Taigun.
Expected additions include:
- A 10.25 inch fully digital instrument cluster.
- An updated 10.1 inch touchscreen interface.
- AI powered infotainment features.
- A revised automatic climate control system.
- Improved air conditioning performance.
Other expected features include a wireless phone charger, rear AC vents and a single pane sunroof. The existing six airbags and tyre pressure monitoring system could continue.
Virtus Facelift Engine and Gearbox
Volkswagen has not officially announced the mechanical specifications yet. However, the facelift is expected to retain its existing turbo petrol engine options.
The 1.0 litre TSI engine produces 115hp and could receive a new eight speed torque converter automatic gearbox. This would replace the existing six speed automatic transmission.
The 1.5 litre TSI engine produces 150hp and is expected to continue with its seven speed DSG automatic gearbox. A six speed manual option may also remain available with the smaller engine.
Volkswagen India Brand Director on the New Virtus Facelift
Commenting on the upcoming launch, Nitin Kohli, Brand Director, Volkswagen India, said, “We are excited to introduce the New Virtus to the Indian market. The Virtus has built a strong connect with its discerning set of customers and has clearly established a leading position in its segment as a stylish, sophisticated and performance oriented sedan offering great driving pleasure. With this facelift, we are building on a much loved product, bringing a fresh and contemporary character while retaining the qualities that make the Virtus special. We look forward to continuing to bring the joy of driving to our customers with the New Virtus.”
Expected Price, Launch and Rivals
Volkswagen is expected to launch the updated Virtus in December 2026. Prices could increase slightly compared to the current model.
The existing Virtus range starts at Rs 10.50 lakh and goes up to Rs 19.20 lakh (ex showroom).
Its key rivals will include the Skoda Slavia, Hyundai Verna and Honda City.
The Volkswagen Virtus facelift brings useful parking features and styling updates rather than major mechanical changes. Buyers considering a new midsize sedan should wait for its official prices and complete feature list before making a purchase decision.
