Volkswagen Virtus Anniversary Edition Launched at Rs 19.19 Lakh
Google News

Volkswagen India has introduced the Virtus Anniversary Edition to mark four years of the premium sedan in the Indian market. Priced at Rs 19.19 lakh (ex-showroom), this limited-run model is based on the Virtus GT Plus Sport variant and comes with an exclusive Avocado Pearl exterior colour. While the special edition mainly brings cosmetic updates, its launch has also sparked speculation that the Volkswagen Virtus facelift could be introduced soon.
The timing of the Anniversary Edition is noteworthy. Just a few weeks ago, Skoda launched the Slavia Monte Carlo Limited Edition with new exterior colours, and the Slavia facelift is already scheduled to debut on 18 August 2026. Since the Virtus and Slavia share the same platform and follow a similar product cycle, this special edition could serve as a bridge before the facelifted Virtus arrives.
Volkswagen Virtus Anniversary Edition Gets A New Exterior Colour
The biggest highlight of the Anniversary Edition is its exclusive Avocado Pearl paint finish, which is paired with a contrasting black roof and black alloy wheels. Other than these visual changes, the sedan remains identical to the GT Plus Sport variant.
The cabin continues with the same feature list, including a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit, and an electric sunroof. It also gets Laser Red ambient lighting, aluminium pedals, rain-sensing wipers, auto headlamps, and an auto-dimming IRVM for added convenience. On the safety front, the Virtus comes with six airbags as standard and continues to hold its 5-star Global NCAP safety rating.
Engine And Mechanical Package Remain Unchanged
Volkswagen has not made any mechanical updates to the Anniversary Edition. It continues to be powered by the 1.5-litre TSI EVO turbo-petrol engine, producing 150 PS and 250 Nm of torque.
The engine is paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels. This setup remains the same as the standard GT Plus Sport variant, ensuring buyers get the familiar performance without any changes.
Special Edition Could Hint At Upcoming Virtus Facelift
The launch of the Anniversary Edition becomes more interesting when viewed alongside Skoda's recent updates. On 21 July 2026, Skoda introduced two limited-run Slavia Monte Carlo editions in Shimla Green and Steel Grey, with only 200 units available. The new Avocado Pearl shade on the Virtus appears visually similar to the Shimla Green colour used on the Slavia, highlighting the close relationship between the two sedans.
Both the Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia share the MQB-A0-IN platform and are built at Volkswagen Group's Chakan plant near Pune. With the Slavia facelift set to launch on 18 August, the Virtus facelift is also expected to arrive soon, as both models follow a similar update cycle. However, Volkswagen has not officially confirmed any link between the Anniversary Edition and the upcoming facelift.
