Mercedes-Benz India Unveils AI-Powered XENTRY Scanner for Servicing

Mercedes-Benz India has introduced its AI-powered XENTRY Scanner to automate vehicle inspections during workshop visits. The technology debuted at the brand's largest Mumbai facility in Jogeshwari. It speeds up service check-ins while eliminating manual paperwork for luxury car owners.

How the AI XENTRY Scanner Operates

The XENTRY Scanner functions as an automated diagnostic system for vehicles entering service workshops. Cars drive through an inspection frame equipped with a 360-degree high-resolution camera array.

  • 13 Cameras & LiDAR: Captures 150 detailed images of the vehicle within 3 to 5 seconds.
  • 4-Area Assessment: Evaluates the car body, underbody, windshield and tyres automatically.
  • Cloud AI Analysis: Detects exterior wear and calculates tyre tread depth and braking health.
  • Privacy & Efficiency: Omits driver images and auto-populates digital job cards without manual entry.

Service advisors receive real-time findings on tablets. Customers then review and approve itemized repair estimates digitally on the spot.

Strategic Impact and 'Service Select' Scheme

Automating inspections significantly reduces customer waiting times and improves workshop bay turnover. Internal dealer studies show electric vehicles match combustion engine models in overall maintenance costs. However, EV service expenses stem mostly from body shop repairs rather than routine mechanical maintenance.

Alongside the scanner, Mercedes-Benz introduced the 'Service Select' initiative for cars aged seven years or older. The program offers eligible owners up to 25 percent savings on routine servicing. It also includes a two-year spare parts warranty and residual value protection.
