Google News

The 2026 Tata Punch EV facelift has secured a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating for its safety performance. It scored 31.09 out of 32 points in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 45 out of 49 points in Child Occupant Protection (COP). The latest safety assessment confirms the electric SUV’s strong performance in crash tests and applies to the complete Punch EV lineup.
The tested variants included the Adventure 40 and Empowered+ 40 versions. The rating applies to all six variants, including models equipped with 30kWh and 40kWh battery pack options. This is the second Bharat NCAP test for the Punch EV, with the adult occupant score slightly reducing from the earlier model’s 31.46 points, while the child safety score remains unchanged.
Tata Punch EV Facelift Crash Test Results Explained
In the adult occupant protection test, the Punch EV facelift performed well in frontal and side impact evaluations. It scored 15.28/16 points in the frontal offset deformable barrier test and 15.80/16 points in the side movable deformable barrier test.
The electric SUV also cleared the side pole impact test with an ‘OK’ rating and met the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) test requirements. The crash report noted good protection for the driver’s and passenger’s head and neck areas, while chest and knee protection for some occupants was rated as adequate.
Child Occupant Protection Score Breakdown
The Tata Punch EV facelift achieved a 45/49 score in child occupant protection, showing strong performance in child safety tests. It received full marks in the dynamic test and child restraint system installation test.
The score breakdown includes:
- Dynamic Test: 24/24 points
- CRS Installation Test: 12/12 points
- Vehicle Assessment Test: 9/13 points
During testing, Bharat NCAP evaluated the protection offered to 18-month-old and 3-year-old child dummies placed in rear-facing child seats. The child seats were installed using ISOFIX anchorages and a support leg.
Tata Punch EV Safety Features Available Across Variants
The Bharat NCAP rating applies to the entire Punch EV facelift range, ensuring all variants receive the same safety rating. The electric SUV comes equipped with features such as six airbags, electronic stability control, seat belt reminders for all seats, side head curtain airbags, and ISOFIX mounts for rear outboard seats.
The Punch EV facelift also complies with AIS-100 pedestrian protection norms. With this 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, Tata continues to strengthen its focus on safety in the compact electric SUV segment.
