Kia Opens Pre-Bookings For New CNG And Hybrid MPVs

Kia India has opened pre-bookings for the Carens CNG, Carens Clavis CNG and Carnival Limousine Hybrid in India. The three upcoming models expand Kia’s powertrain options as the brand looks to offer more alternatives to conventional petrol and diesel vehicles.

The Carens and Carens Clavis will be Kia’s first factory-fitted CNG models in India, while the Carnival will introduce a hybrid powertrain to the MPV segment. Kia is yet to announce the prices of these models, with their launches expected soon.

Kia Carens And Carens Clavis CNG Details

The Kia Carens CNG and Carens Clavis CNG will use a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Both models will feature a 60-litre CNG tank, and CNG-specific changes to support the additional hardware.

In CNG mode, the engine produces around 96 PS and 123 Nm. The models also get revised suspension settings, revised front disc brakes, a dedicated fuel-change switch and a CNG distance-to-empty display. The CNG cylinder reduces boot capacity from around 216 litres to approximately 116 litres, although Kia retains the spare wheel.

Carens CNG And Clavis CNG Variants

The Kia Carens CNG will be available in the Premium (O) G1.5 6MT variant for private buyers. Kia will also offer the M-Drive G1.5 6MT for B2B and commercial applications.

The Carens Clavis CNG will be offered in HTE G1.5 6MT and HTE (O) G1.5 6MT variants for private buyers. An HTM G1.5 6MT version will also be available for B2B applications.

Kia Carnival Hybrid

The Kia Carnival Limousine Hybrid will be offered in the range-topping Limousine+ configuration. It will use a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol hybrid powertrain paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.

The turbo-petrol engine develops 180 PS and 265 Nm, while the electric motor provides additional assistance. The international version develops around 245 PS of combined output and approximately 368 Nm, although the final India-spec combined figures are yet to be officially confirmed.
