The company also retained its position as India’s largest exporter of electric passenger vehicles during April-September 2026, accounting for nearly 93% of the country’s exports in this category.
The company currently ships its electric vehicles to around 50 countries, with the United Kingdom, Norway, Germany, Japan and Switzerland among the key markets. Europe continues to be its largest export destination, having received the first batch of these vehicles.
Maruti Suzuki Strengthens Its Position in Global EV Markets
Maruti Suzuki began exporting its electric vehicles in August 2025, following the start of e VITARA production at its Hansalpur facility in Gujarat. The company emerged as India’s largest EV exporter in FY2025-26 and maintained its lead during April-September 2026. It currently exports 16 models to nearly 120 countries worldwide.
Beyond electric vehicles, Maruti Suzuki has remained India’s largest passenger vehicle exporter for five consecutive years. The company accounted for more than 50% of the country’s passenger vehicle exports during April-September 2026. Its expanding export network highlights India’s growing role as a manufacturing hub for international automotive markets.
Hansalpur Facility Supports EV Export Growth
Maruti Suzuki’s Hansalpur facility in Gujarat serves as the exclusive manufacturing base for Suzuki’s first global battery electric vehicle, the e VITARA. The facility has recently expanded its annual production capacity to one million vehicles, becoming the first Suzuki manufacturing plant worldwide to achieve this capacity at a single location.
The plant has received a cumulative investment of Rs. 25,288.7 crore and plays an important role in the company's overseas business. It accounted for nearly half of Maruti Suzuki’s total exports in FY2025-26, making it a significant hub for supplying vehicles to international markets.
Maruti Suzuki on EV Exports
Commenting on the achievement, Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti, said, “Maruti Suzuki's EV export journey began in August 2025 when the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, commemorated the start of production of the e VITARA at the Hansalpur facility, for sale in over 100 countries. At the same event, he hailed Maruti Suzuki as a brand ambassador of the 'Make in India' initiative.”
He also added that Maruti Suzuki now exports EVs to nearly 50 countries, with Europe being its largest market. The company accounted for nearly 93% of India's electric passenger vehicle exports between April and September 2026, reflecting the country's advanced manufacturing capabilities and growing global competitiveness.
