MG Hector Hawk India Launch on August 28: EV and PHEV SUV Expected
Google News

JSW MG Motor India is set to introduce a new premium SUV on August 28. The upcoming model is widely expected to be called the MG Hector Hawk. This launch will also mark the Indian debut of MG's new ADAPT platform.
Buyers can expect the SUV in both electric (EV) and Plug in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain. This will give them more electrified choices in the premium SUV segment.
MG Hector Hawk Expected Design and Features
The upcoming MG SUV is expected to share its platform with the Wuling Starlight 560 sold in overseas markets. It measures 4.7 metres in length, 1.85 metres in width, and 1.7 metres in height.
Recent test mules have revealed several exterior details. These include vertically stacked LED headlamps, distinctive daytime running lights, wraparound LED tail lamps, and a roof mounted spoiler. The electric version will likely feature a closed front grille and a charging port on the left rear fender.
Inside, the MG car is likely to adopt a cleaner cabin layout than the current Hector. The SUV could feature an 8.8 inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.8 inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Other expected highlights include:
- Panoramic sunroof
- Powered and ventilated front seats
- 50W wireless charger
- Six speaker audio system
- Automatic climate control with rear AC vents
Safety features are expected to include six airbags, TPMS, hill hold assist, an electronic parking brake, a rear parking camera, parking sensors, and ADAS.
EV and PHEV Powertrain Options
MG is expected to offer two electrified powertrains with the Hector Hawk.
The electric car version could use a 69.2kWh battery pack paired with a front mounted electric motor producing 201hp and 310Nm. It is expected to deliver a claimed CLTC driving range of up to 530km.
This plug-in hybrid variant may use a 1.5L petrol engine with 20.5kWh battery and an electric motor, offering 195hp and 230Nm. It may also offer up to 125km of electric only driving.
The Hector Hawk will become MG India's first SUV based on the ADAPT platform. This architecture supports EV, PHEV, strong hybrid, and range extender powertrains.
What Buyers Can Expect
The Hector Hawk is expected to be positioned above the current Hector in MG's portfolio.
The EV version is likely to rival the Mahindra XEV 9S. Meanwhile, the PHEV variant could compete with the Mahindra XUV 7XO and Tata Safari.
For buyers, the biggest attraction will be the flexibility of choosing between a fully electric SUV and a plug in hybrid. Combined with modern features and advanced safety equipment, the Hector Hawk could broaden MG's premium SUV lineup when it arrives later this month.
