Renault India has officially started customer deliveries of the all-new Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 during the Diwali festive season. The company marked the occasion by handing over the keys to its first customer at the newly opened flagship 'new'R' store in HITEC City, Hyderabad.
The handover was carried out by Francisco Hidalgo, VP of Sales & Marketing at Renault Group India. The new powertrain variant lineup - Duster Hybrid launch, happened on October 17, 2026, at an introductory price of Rs.16.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Currently, the Duster E-Tech 160 represents the brand's first step under its 'futuREady' electrification roadmap in India.
Delivery Milestone & Retail Network Expansion
Hyderabad has emerged as one of the top markets in India for Duster Strong Hybrid bookings, prompting Renault to choose the tech hub for its first official delivery. The first unit was delivered to Mr. T Krishna Gopal, CEO of Eduzi Academy.
Alongside the delivery milestone, Renault inaugurated its largest showroom in Hyderabad, a 7,000 sq ft facility in HITEC City capable of displaying eight vehicles. Operated in partnership with VVC Group, this store marks Renault's 30th 'new’R' retail outlet in India.
Designed around Renault's global modern identity, the new’R store format prioritizes customer-centric, digital-first retail experiences. As part of its broader network overhaul, Renault aims to upgrade all 73 showrooms across 24 major Indian cities to this new format by July 2027.

Main Competitors & Segment Rivals
The Renault Duster Strong Hybrid enters the competitive midsize SUV segment, taking on strong-hybrid and turbo-petrol rivals including:
- Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Intelligent Electric Hybrid: A major hybrid competitor offering high fuel efficiency and AWD options.
- Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder: Shares the strong-hybrid powertrain with the Grand Vitara, appealing to eco-focused buyers.
- Hyundai Creta / Kia Seltos: Feature-packed segment bestsellers offering traditional petrol and diesel engine options.
- Honda Elevate: A classic naturally aspirated petrol offering with strong spatial packaging.
Car Junction's Insights
We believe fulfilling Duster Strong Hybrid deliveries within less than a year of its roadmap announcement is a major execution win for Renault India. By launching its flagship hybrid vehicle right in the middle of the Diwali rush, Renault is capitalizing on peak automotive buying sentiment.
Focusing heavily on updating its retail experience via the new’R store format is equally vital. As hybrid adoption accelerates in India, offering a premium showroom environment alongside proven E-Tech technology will give Renault the momentum it needs to re-establish the Duster nameplate as a serious contender in the midsize SUV space.
