New Skoda Slavia Production Begins in Pune Ahead of Festive Season

Skoda Auto Volkswagen India (SAVWIPL) has officially commenced production of the new Skoda Slavia at its Chakan manufacturing facility in Pune. Strategically timed ahead of the upcoming festive period, the revised mid-size sedan introduces enhanced design elements, upgraded interior comfort and new transmission options.

Strategic Timing & Manufacturing Footprint

The start of production coincides with peak customer purchasing consideration during India's festive season. Built on European engineering tailored for Indian roads, the Slavia has already recorded nearly 80,000 unit sales since its initial launch. This accounts for approximately 30% segment market share. The Chakan plant operates alongside SAVWIPL's second facility, contributing to a combined annual output capacity of 315,000 units.

Powertrain Upgrades & Technical Enhancements

While retaining its 5-star Global NCAP safety rating, the new Skoda Car receives notable mechanical and technological upgrades:

• Transmission Option: Features an all-new 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission mated to the 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine.
• In-Cabin Technology: Introduces next-generation infotainment software incorporating an AI Companion powered by Google Cloud.
• Driver & Passenger Assistance: Equipped with a 360-degree Area View camera system alongside segment-first rear seat massage functionality.
