Volkswagen Teases Affordable Tayron SUV Variant

Volkswagen India has officially teased a new, lower-spec variant of its flagship Tayron three-row SUV. Slated for a launch on July 10, 2026, this upcoming non-R-Line model aims to lower the entry price barrier.
Refreshed Visual Details and Feature Retention
The official teaser video confirms that the more accessible variant drops aggressive sports styling in favor of a clean executive appearance. However, the premium essence remains fully intact.
- Front and Rear Profiling: The model retains the projector LED headlamps, full-width front light bar, and illuminated front and rear Volkswagen branding logos.
- Simplified Body Styling: It trades the aggressive honeycomb bumpers of the R-Line for a cleaner, minimalist design trim with subtle chrome inserts.
- Revised Wheels: The side profile reveals a newly designed five-spoke alloy wheel pattern, likely smaller than the sporty 19-inch rims found on the top-tier version.
- Plush Cabin Layout: Inside, the vehicle replaces the dark all-black theme with an elegant, brighter dual-tone contrast upholstery combination.
- Tech and Comfort: Drivers still get a large 15-inch free-standing touchscreen system, a 10.25-inch digital cluster and blue ambient lighting. Also, a panoramic sunroof and a three-zone climate control system.
Familiar High-Performance Engineering Under the Hood
While the exterior cosmetics and interior color theme receive a luxury-focused simplification, the mechanical setup remains unchanged. The incoming variant shares the exact high-output powertrain found in the top-tier R-Line.
The core engineering metrics are detailed below:

Currently, Volkswagen retails the fully loaded Tayron R-Line at an introductory price of Rs. 46.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This incoming lower-spec variant is highly expected to cost up to Rs. 3 lakh less, making the premium three-row platform considerably more competitive. By this, the German automaker aims to challenge established segment rivals like the Jeep Meridian and Skoda Kodiaq much more aggressively.
