Google News

BMW India has launched the X1 LWB in India at Rs 49.90 lakh (ex showroom). The new long wheelbase SUV is available in one sDrive18i M Sport variant.
BMW has introduced the X1 LWB to offer more rear seat space for Indian buyers. The SUV gets a 1.5 litre turbo petrol engine with a seven speed dual clutch automatic gearbox. The standard wheelbase X1 continues with a diesel engine option. The X1 LWB will compete with the Mercedes Benz GLA, Audi Q3, and Volvo XC40.
BMW X1 LWB Offers More Rear Legroom
The BMW X1 LWB measures 4,616 mm in length, 1,845 mm in width, and 1,641 mm in height. Its wheelbase measures 2,802 mm, which is 108 mm longer than the standard X1.
BMW says the extended wheelbase improves space for rear passengers. The SUV offers 109 mm more knee room and 150 mm more rear legroom. The rear seat cushion is also 15 mm longer.
The rear backrests can recline by up to 28.5 degrees. This should make longer journeys more comfortable for rear passengers.
BMW X1 LWB Engine And Features
The BMW car uses a 1.5 litre three cylinder TwinPower Turbo petrol engine. It produces 156 hp and 230 Nm of torque between 1,500 rpm and 4,600 rpm.
The engine comes with a seven speed dual clutch automatic transmission. Power is sent to the front wheels. BMW claims a fuel efficiency figure of 15.5 kmpl.
Key features include:
- 18 inch alloy wheels
- Panoramic glass roof
- Adaptive LED headlamps
- Dual zone climate control
- Powered tailgate
- 12 speaker Harman Kardon sound system
- BMW Digital Key Plus
- Park Assist Plus
BMW X1 LWB: Safety And Connected Technology
The BMW X1 LWB gets eight airbags, ABS with EBD, and Dynamic Stability Control. It also features traction control and tyre pressure monitoring.
Other safety equipment includes front and rear parking sensors, a rear view camera, and ISOFIX child seat mounts. BMW has also equipped the SUV with ADAS features.
The SUV gets BMW's latest iDrive interface with voice and touch controls. It also supports over the air software updates and connected services.
Conclusion
The BMW X1 LWB brings more rear seat space without moving far from the standard X1's design. Its petrol engine and added features make it a practical choice for buyers seeking extra cabin comfort.
Along with the X1 LWB, buyers can also check the BYD Sealion 7 Dynamic price before choosing their next premium SUV.
