Volkswagen Teased Taigun Facelift Ahead of April 9 Global Debut
Google News

Volkswagen India has officially released the first teaser of the Taigun facelift, confirming its unveiling for April 9, 2026. This mid-life refresh aims to align the compact SUV with the brand’s updated global design language. This is while introducing a more comprehensive feature suite to maintain competitiveness in the crowded C-SUV segment.
Updated Aesthetics and Enhanced Features
The teaser reveals a sleeker front profile, departing from the more upright stance of the current model. Key visual updates include a redesigned lighting signature with a full-width LED light bar and bumpers. This may be inspired by the international Volkswagen Tayron R-Line. The side profile is expected to feature new alloy wheel designs, potentially mirroring the pattern seen on the Virtus sedan.
Inside, the cabin is expected to retain its minimalist layout but with upgraded materials and a dual-tone theme. Significant equipment additions are expected to mirror those of its cousin, the Skoda Kushaq facelift, including:
- Infotainment: A 10.1-inch touchscreen with integrated AI voice assistance.
- Comfort: Rear seat massage function and a panoramic sunroof.
- Instrumentation: A revised 10.25-inch fully digital driver’s display.
- Safety: Standardized six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and the potential inclusion of Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems).
Powertrain Specifications and Comparisons
While the exterior and interior receive overhauls, the mechanical underpinnings remain largely unchanged, though reports suggest a new 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission may replace the existing 6-speed unit for the 1-liter variant.

This facelift represents a strategic move to bridge the gap between its India-specific lineup and its evolving global portfolio. By focusing on premium features like AI integration and enhanced safety, VW is targeting the tech-focused consumer. Upon its launch, the facelifted SUV will continue its rivalry with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and the upcoming Skoda Kushaq facelift. Its pricing is expected to start in the ₹11 lakh range (ex-showroom).
