BMW 7 Series And i7 Facelift Coming On September 11: Design, Features, Power

BMW India will launch the facelifted BMW 7 Series and electric i7 in India on 11 September. Pre launch bookings are already open for both models. The updated range brings exterior, cabin and powertrain changes for Indian buyers.

The BMW Car will continue with petrol and diesel options, while the i7 will remain the electric alternative. Current prices start at Rs 1.85 crore for the 7 Series and Rs 2.10 crore for the i7. The updates mainly focus on styling, technology, rear seat entertainment and stronger powertrains.

The models will continue to compete with the Mercedes Benz S Class and Audi A8.

BMW 7 Series Gets New Design

The facelift brings an illuminated kidney grille and redesigned split headlamps. Slim upper units house the DRLs, while smaller lower clusters sit near the air curtains. The rear gets slimmer tail lamps with chrome detailing and smoked glass. BMW has also hidden the boot release, rear camera and washer nozzle.

Expected Technology Inside

The cabin is expected to get a 17.9 inch central touchscreen with the new BMW Operating System. A 14.6 inch display could be placed ahead of the front passenger. The conventional instrument cluster is replaced by a full width projection at the windscreen base.

Other additions include a four spoke steering wheel and a revised ambient light strip. The Bowers & Wilkins system gets up to 18 speakers and Dolby Atmos. Rear passengers may get a 31.3 inch 8K touchscreen for streaming, video calls and gaming.

Powertrain Updates And Prices

The 740i xDrive now makes 400bhp and 580Nm. The 740d xDrive produces 313bhp and 670Nm. Both use 3.0 litre inline six mild hybrid engines with eight speed automatic gearboxes and all wheel drive.

The BMW i7 gets a larger 112.4kWh battery in both variants. The i7 50 also moves from rear wheel drive to xDrive as standard.

The facelift adds more technology and stronger powertrains, but buyers will need to wait for launch day prices.
