Toyota has officially entered India’s electric vehicle space with the launch of the Urban Cruiser Ebella. This new electric SUV marks Toyota’s first all-electric model for the Indian market. Based on the same platform as the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, the Ebella brings familiar foundations. It steps into the fast-growing mid-size electric SUV segment and lines up against rivals like the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE6, MG ZS EV, and VinFast VF6.
Bookings for the Urban Cruiser Ebella are now open for a token amount of Rs 25,000. However, full variant details and pricing will be announced closer to launch.
The Urban Cruiser Ebella follows a modern and clean design theme. At the front, it gets sleek LED headlights with segmented daytime running lights, joined by a black trim strip. In addition, the bumper design looks smoother with vertical air vents at the edges. The side profile carries strong body cladding and rear door handles placed on the C-pillar, which gives it a sporty touch.
At the rear, the segmented LED taillights continue the theme. The SUV rides on 18-inch aero-optimised alloy wheels and includes an EV charging port on the left front fender.
Its colour choices include Cafe White, Bluish Black, Gaming Grey, Sportin Red, and Enticing Silver. Moreover, dual-tone options add a black roof paired with select body colours, giving buyers more personalisation.
Step inside, and the cabin mirrors the layout seen in the e-Vitara. However, Toyota adds its own interior theme with dual-tone black and red or black and brown finishes. The dashboard houses a 10.1-inch digital driver’s display and a 10.25-inch infotainment screen with wireless smartphone connectivity.
In addition, the Ebella offers ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, a JBL sound system, a wireless charger, and a 10-way power-adjustable driver seat. Rear seats can recline and slide, improving comfort on longer drives. There’s also a panoramic sunroof and electronic parking brake for a premium feel.
The Urban Cruiser Ebella comes with two battery options: 49kWh and 61kWh. The smaller pack delivers around 142bhp, while the larger unit produces about 172bhp. Both generate 189 Nm of torque. Toyota claims a driving range of up to 543km on a single charge for the bigger battery.
Apart from this, the car gets 7 airbags, disc brakes on all wheels, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS. It also has features like adaptive cruise control and lane assist, which further support safer driving.
