Citroen Aircross, Basalt Get New Variants Soon: Here’s What to Expect
Google News

The Citroen Aircross and Basalt are likely to receive new variants soon, with the company teasing both models ahead of launch. The new variants are expected to launch in September, targeting buyers seeking more features without choosing expensive top end trims.
The teaser shows the silhouettes of both models but does not reveal the exact changes. Citroen is expected to position these versions around the existing Plus trims. No mechanical changes are expected with the upcoming variants.
Citroen Aircross, Basalt to Get More Features
The new versions could bring features currently available only on higher spec variants. This approach could give buyers more equipment without pushing them towards the costliest versions.
Citroen may also add minor exterior changes to both models. These could include additional styling elements at the front and rear.
However, the teaser does not confirm the exact equipment or styling updates. Citroen is expected to reveal more details closer to the launch.
Plus Trims Could Remain Key Choices
The Plus grade already holds an important position in the Aircross and Basalt line ups. It is also where the 1.2 litre turbo petrol engine becomes available.
The turbo petrol engine can be paired with a six speed manual gearbox. Buyers can also choose a six speed torque converter automatic transmission. A 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine is also available across the range. The Plus versions, therefore, sit between entry level and higher spec trims.
This could make the Citroen cars more relevant for buyers balancing performance, features and purchase cost.
Citroen Aircross, Basalt Price
Citroen has not announced prices for the upcoming variants yet. Their positioning will be important because both models overlap with smaller sub four metre SUVs.
At similar prices, buyers may compare the Aircross and Basalt with better equipped versions of smaller SUVs. Rivals in this space include the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and Maruti Suzuki Brezza.
The Citroen models offer the benefit of larger overall dimensions and more cabin space. However, features and pricing could remain major factors for buyers.
No Mechanical Changes Expected
The upcoming variants are not expected to bring mechanical changes. Instead, Citroen appears focused on adding equipment to its mid range offerings.
The company has not confirmed the launch date within September and has also not disclosed the final feature list or prices. More information will come when Citroen officially unveils the new Aircross and Basalt variants.
While Citroen prepares new variants, Tata is also working on a major update to the next-gen Tata Nexon.
