22.3% Growth in PV Sales by Tata Motors in Q3 FY26

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd shared its Q3 FY26 sales numbers and continued its upward journey. The brand recorded steady progress in both domestic and international markets. In addition, stronger demand for SUVs, EVs, CNG cars, and hatchbacks helped the company maintain healthy growth through the entire quarter.

Segment-Wise Sales Performance

1. PV Domestic Sales

The domestic market delivered strong numbers this quarter. In December 2025, Tata Motors sold 50,046 units, higher than 44,230 units in December 2024. This shows a 13.1% growth for the month.

Furthermore, the Q3 FY26 performance stayed even stronger. The brand recorded 168,616 units, compared to 139,424 units in Q3 FY25. This brings a 20.9% growth, driven by the strong demand for models like Nexon, Punch, Tiago, and Altroz.

2. PV International Business (PV IB)

Tata Motors also saw solid growth in international markets. In December 2025, the company sold 473 units, compared to 59 units last year. This leads to a sharp 701.7% increase.

Moreover, Q3 FY26 recorded 2,397 units, compared to 405 units in Q3 FY25. This results in a strong 491.9% growth, showing rising acceptance in global markets.

3. Total Passenger Vehicle Sales (Including EVs)

Total PV sales increased across the month and quarter. In December 2025, Tata Motors registered 50,519 units, compared to 44,289 units in December 2024. This brings a 14.1% jump.

During Q3 FY26, total PV sales touched 171,013 units, ahead of 139,829 units in Q3 FY25. This results in a 22.3% growth, reflecting consistent demand across all categories.

4. EV Domestic + International Sales

EV sales continued to rise with strong customer interest. In December 2025, Tata Motors delivered 6,906 EV units, compared to 5,562 units in December 2024, marking a 24.2% growth.

In addition, Q3 FY26 EV sales reached 24,103 units, compared to 16,119 units a year earlier. This shows a strong 49.5% growth, supported by better range, lifetime battery warranty, and improved value.

Leadership Insight from the MD & CEO

Mr. Shailesh Chandra, MD and CEO, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., said, “CY25 saw steady progress for the PV industry powered by a growing preference for SUVs and accelerating adoption of cleaner, emission-friendly powertrains. For Tata Motors, it was the fifth consecutive year of record-breaking annual sales, with 587,218 units sold, including the highest-ever EV volumes of 81,125 units in a calendar year.

For Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, the momentum sparked by the rollout of GST 2.0 in late Q2 FY26 gained further traction in Q3, resulting in several new records. We achieved our highest-ever quarterly wholesales of 171,103 units, while retail sales/registrations crossed the coveted 200,000 units milestone for the first time. Nexon led the charge as India’s top-selling car/SUV in October and November and is on track to retain this leadership for Q3 FY26, with sales ~64,000 units. Punch dominated its segment and Tiago delivered robust growth, reinforcing its preference among hatchback favorites.

December was another standout month as we continued our growth trajectory with 22% growth YoY. At the same time, our retail sales significantly exceeded wholesales, driving dealer inventory down to ~18 days, and underscoring our strategic focus on demand-led growth and prudent channel health management.

He explained that their multi-powertrain strategy delivered strong year-on-year growth in Q3 FY26. CNG volumes crossed 47,000 units, and overall SUV volumes increased by 18%. He also shared that EV adoption gained speed because customers received better driving range, enhanced features, a lifetime battery warranty, and pricing that stayed close to ICE models. These improvements led to a solid 50% YoY growth in EVs.

He further mentioned that Q3 FY26 included several major product updates. The company unveiled the Harrier and Safari in their petrol versions and also introduced the much-awaited Sierra, which received a very positive response from customers.

Looking ahead, he stated that the company remains confident about the growth of the passenger vehicle industry. With deliveries for the new products starting in Q4 and many upcoming launches and innovations in the pipeline, Tata Motors expects to accelerate its growth path in FY26.”
