Green SM, a Vietnamese electric ride-hailing company backed by Vingroup, is scheduled to commence commercial operations in India on June 5, 2026. The incoming service will initially launch in the Delhi-NCR region then will expand to other cities. The service aims to challenge incumbent ride-hailing platforms like Uber and Ola.
Exclusive EV Fleet Strategy and Fleet Specifications
Established in 2023 by VinFast founder Pham Nhat Vuong, Green and Smart Mobility Joint Stock Company (GSM) currently operates across Vietnam, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Unlike traditional aggregators that source vehicles from various automotive brands, GSM operates an exclusive fleet comprising only VinFast electric models. The primary vehicle deployed for the Indian market will be the Limo Green, a fleet-oriented adaptation of the VF MPV 7. Recent road sightings in India showed the vehicle configured with a Cyan paint finish, Green SM branding, and steel wheels with covers.
While the consumer-grade VF MPV 7 features a brown-and-black cabin, the fleet-specific Limo Green features an all-black interior layout designed for a seven-seat capacity.
Key details regarding the incoming commercial fleet include:
-
Dedicated Branding: The Limo Green will carry distinct badging and a simplified feature set compared to the standard consumer variant.
- Powertrain Specs: The vehicle utilizes a 60.13kWh battery pack paired with a front-mounted electric motor that generates 204hp and 280Nm of torque.
- Certification: The fleet version will secure a separate ARAI certification specifically for commercial ride-hailing operations.
- Fleet Expansion: Alongside the MPV, VinFast’s VF5 electric hatchback is under active consideration for future inclusion in the fleet.
The entry of Green SM introduces a captive-fleet model to India's ride-hailing industry, positioning Vingroup alongside domestic manufacturers. By relying entirely on VinFast vehicles, the strategy functions as a dual-purpose launch, simultaneously scaling a green transport service. This is along with building localized road presence for the Vietnamese automaker's EV products in competitive metro areas like Delhi-NCR.
