Honda Cars India Achieves 31.21% Sales Increase in May 2026

Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) reported total sales of 7,853 units in May 2026, reflecting a strong performance during the month. The company registered a 31.21% year-on-year growth compared to 5,985 units sold in May 2025. The growth was supported by sustained demand for key models such as the Honda Amaze, City, and Elevate. Honda also maintained positive momentum during the month, aided by the recent introduction of the updated Honda City.
Strong Growth Across Domestic and Export Markets
Honda Cars India sold 5,111 units in the domestic market in May 2026, compared to 3,950 units in May 2025. This marks a 29.39% year-on-year increase, showing stronger customer demand compared to the same period last year. The company sold 1,161 more vehicles in India than it did a year ago.
Meanwhile, their export business also recorded healthy growth during the month. The company shipped 2,742 units to international markets, up from 2,035 units in May 2025. This resulted in a 34.74% increase in exports, highlighting strong demand for Honda vehicles outside India as well.

Month-on-Month Sales Performance
In India the company recorded strong month-on-month growth in May 2026 across both domestic and export markets. Domestic sales increased to 5,111 units from 4,069 units in April 2026, registering a 25.61% growth. This reflects improving demand and stronger market momentum during the month.
Meanwhile, exports witnessed a significant rise to 2,742 units compared to 869 units in the previous month, resulting in a 215.54% increase. Supported by growth in both segments, the company's overall sales climbed to 7,853 units in May 2026 from 4,938 units in April 2026, reflecting a 59.03% month-on-month growth.

Commenting on the company’s performance, Mr. Kunal Behl, Vice President, Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd., said:

The encouraging response to the new Honda City, along with steady demand for Amaze, City and Elevate, has helped us achieve strong growth across both domestic and export markets."
Honda Cars India began FY2027 on a strong note, supported by steady demand for the Amaze, City, and Elevate. They crossed the 5,000-unit domestic sales mark in May 2026, while exports recorded even stronger growth. The brand is also preparing to expand its portfolio with new CBU models and an India-made electric SUV. With plans to launch 10 new vehicles by 2030, the brand is focused on strengthening its position in the Indian market.
