Skoda Auto India has confirmed that the Kylaq Sportline will be launched in September 2026. The announcement was made by Skoda India Brand Director Ashish Gupta, who revealed that the new variant will bring sportier styling elements to the brand's sub-4-metre SUV. While the company has not confirmed a Kylaq RS version yet, a more powerful 1.5-litre TSI engine is currently under consideration.
Skoda Kylaq Sportline to Get Sportier Design Updates
The upcoming Kylaq Sportline is expected to follow the design approach seen on the Kushaq Sportline and Slavia Sportline. Exterior highlights could include a blacked-out front grille, gloss black alloy wheels, black ORVMs, black roof, black badges, and revised faux skid plates. A sportier rear spoiler and dedicated Sportline badging may also be part of the package.
Inside, the SUV is likely to feature an all-black cabin theme with red contrast detailing, red stitching, aluminium pedals, and Sportline-specific elements. The new variant is expected to be positioned below the top-spec Prestige and Prestige+ variants. This helps Skoda offer a sportier option without significantly changing the Kylaq's current price range.
Engine Details and 1.5 TSI Under Evaluation
The Kylaq Sportline is expected to continue with the existing 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. The unit produces around 113-115 bhp and 178 Nm of torque and is available with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Moreover, Ashish Gupta confirmed that a 1.5-litre TSI-powered Kylaq is being evaluated. Since the Kylaq shares its MQB A0 IN platform with the Kushaq and Slavia, both of which use the 1.5-litre TSI engine, introducing the larger engine is technically possible. However, Skoda is still assessing whether such a model is commercially viable in the highly competitive sub-4-metre SUV segment.
