Renault Duster’s RGMP: 5 Key Takeaways

Renault has officially showcased its new Renault Group Modular Platform (RGMP), for its new-generation Duster, launching on 17th March. Serving as the foundation for the upcoming car, the RGMP is designed to underpin both Renault and Nissan. This modular architecture is central to the group's strategy to scale production and diversify its portfolio in the region.
Technical Capabilities of the RGMP
The RGMP is engineered to be highly adaptable, allowing for significant variations in vehicle dimensions and seat configurations. It can accommodate vehicle lengths between 4 metres to 4.7 metres. This makes it suitable for the class of compact SUV as well as larger family vehicles.

Key RGMP Highlights
Multi-Powertrain Support
The platform is designed to be "future-proof," supporting a diverse array of energy sources. This includes traditional petrol and CNG, along with flex-fuel, hybrid and fully EV powertrains. The integration of the Google SWEET400 vehicular architecture was primarily responsible for the shift to RGMP. Ensuring modern connectivity and software capabilities across all drivetrain types was the objective of this aspect.
Scalable Architecture for Renault and Nissan
Renault’s upcoming lineup will utilize this single base to create multiple "top hats”. Beyond the Duster, the platform will support the Bridger compact SUV and a future three-row SUV due in 2027. Notably, these benefits will extend to Nissan’s upcoming models, including the Tekton and its own versions of Renault’s new SUVs.
Engineered for 5-Star Safety
Safety is a core pillar of the RGMP's development. Renault has confirmed that the platform is focused to target 5-star Global and Bharat NCAP ratings crash tests. However, the official ratings are pending. This focus aligns with the increasing consumer demand for high safety standards in the Indian automotive market.
RGMP introduction signifies a major technological leap for Renault in India, retiring older architectures and adopting globally competitive, modular systems.
