Google News

Mercedes-Benz has officially revealed the third-generation GLA crossover, introducing it as the first all-electric version built on the brand's Mercedes Modular Architecture. The updated luxury model brings notable dimensional growth, refined exterior styling and a digital-focused interior. While electric versions lead the global rollout, mild-hybrid petrol powertrains will follow in 2027.
Enhanced Proportions and Exterior Design
The third-generation GLA adopts a bolder design aligned with the company’s larger SUV portfolio, while offering increased cabin room and practicality.
- Dimensional Growth: Measures 153mm longer, 39mm wider, and features a 61mm longer wheelbase than the outgoing second-generation model.
- Front Fascia: Features an illuminated grille surround, with electric models receiving horizontal LED strips and ICE variants featuring chrome tristar detailing.
- Lighting Signature: Headlights and wraparound taillights incorporate distinct tristar-shaped LED elements connected by a full-width rear light bar.
- Expanded Utility: Luggage capacity grows by 70 litres to 410 litres, complemented by a 107-litre front trunk on electric variants.
Technical Specifications and Interior Features
Built on an 800V electrical architecture, the electric GLA comes in three trim configurations: 250, 250+ and 350. Battery choices include 58kWh and 85kWh packs, delivering up to 657km of claimed range. International markets will also receive a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission in 2027.
