Mahindra Confirms Two New ICE Vehicle Launches for 2026

Mahindra and Mahindra has publicly confirmed the launch of two new Internal combustion engine (ICE) products in 2026. With the recent launch of XUV 7XO (the XUV700 facelift), the company is turning towards redesigning its classic SUV brands. This strategic move may strengthen their market presence in the SUV segment. Mahindra also plans not to further launch any Battery Electric Vehicle (BEVs) this year.

Scorpio Range: Significant Facelift and Feature Additions

The rebranding of the Scorpio is the core aspect of the Mahindra 2026 ICE roadmap. The update will focus on both modern Scorpio-N and the old Scorpios Classic to keep them competitive.

  • Scorpio-N Facelift: The model will get a redesigned cabin, with the headline feature being a new triple-screen dashboard design and panoramic sunroof. The external enhancements will probably involve redesigned alloy wheels and an updated front fascia.
  • Powertrain Consistency: With the visual updates, the Scorpio-N will continue to offer the same mechanical specification. This includes the 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel motors with both manual and automated transmission.
  • Scorpio Classic: After the N facelift, the Classic will undergo a slight update, mostly in terms of feature additions and not a complete design re-write.

Thar 3-Door Refresh and Future Outlook

The second big launch within 2026 is expected to be an extensive update on the Thar 3-door. The decision will keep the lifestyle SUV competitive with its bigger sibling, the Thar Roxx.

  • Final Generation Update: This facelift will be the last major update of the current-generation Thar 3-door. A major upgrade is expected in 2027 where the platform transitions toward the "Vision T" derivative.
  • Design & Interior: Improvements more focused on interior quality of the Thar 3-door to match with its premium version - Thar Roxx. This might include updated switchgear and infotainment.
  • EV Strategy: Mahindra has made it clear that it will not introduce new electric vehicles by the end of CY2026. Following the release of the XEV 9S and XUV 3XO EV earlier this year, the company is planning a far greater electric assault in 2027.

Alongside announcing the launch of 2 ICE vehicles, officials also indicated no launch of any BEVs this year. BEVs might be in their greater push plan for 2027. After the release of XEV 9S and XUV 3XO EV earlier this year, greater EV manufacturing is the plan for 2027.
