Kia Syros EV is expected to launch in India in August 2026. With this launch, Kia will introduce its most affordable electric SUV in the country. In addition, the upcoming EV will strengthen the brand’s electric vehicle lineup in India.
The new Syros EV will directly compete with popular models like the Tata Nexon EV and the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV. Just like its rivals, the Syros EV will arrive as an electric version of the existing ICE-powered Syros SUV. However, Kia may offer a few unique EV-focused updates to give it a fresh look and feel.
Kia has already tested the Syros EV on Indian roads several times. Although the test vehicles carried heavy camouflage, the SUV looked very similar to the regular Syros model. The electric SUV will likely continue with its boxy styling, upright design, and tallboy stance.
The upcoming EV may feature a charging port on the passenger-side front fender. In addition, Kia could offer redesigned bumpers and stylish alloy wheels to create a different identity for the electric version. However, the overall design may stay close to the standard petrol and diesel variants.
The Syros EV will also become the third powertrain option for the SUV after petrol and diesel models.
Inside the cabin, Kia may keep the same dashboard layout and overall design. However, the company could introduce a few EV-specific features and updated interior elements.
The feature list may include Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) functions. These features can help users charge external devices or even support another EV when needed.
Perhaps Kia may also offer new digital displays, fresh upholstery, and updated cabin trims for a more premium experience. However, it is still unclear whether ADAS features will return in the Syros EV because Kia recently removed them from the ICE version.
The Kia Syros EV will continue to use the K1 platform, which also supports electric vehicles in global markets. Internationally, the same platform underpins the Kia Inster EV, which comes with 42kWh and 49kWh battery packs. Therefore, the India-spec Syros EV may also use similar battery options.
Moreover, the electric SUV will likely feature a front-wheel-drive setup. Kia may focus on offering a practical driving range suitable for both city and daily usage.
Kia is likely to price the Syros EV between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). As a result, the SUV will enter the growing compact electric SUV segment in India.
Once launched, the Kia Syros EV will compete against rivals like the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV by offering modern styling, useful features, and a more affordable entry into Kia’s EV range.
