Tata Motors has received a massive response for the all new Tata Sierra. On the very first day of bookings, the company recorded over 70,000 confirmed bookings. In addition, around 1.35 lakh customers have shared their preferred variant and features. These buyers are now moving closer to completing their bookings. This strong start clearly shows the excitement around the return of the Tata Sierra.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles launched the new Tata Sierra on November 25, 2025. The Sierra returns after more than three decades, and it carries the legacy of the original model. However, this new version feels modern and fresh. Tata has kept some classic design touches while adding new age technology and features. As a result, the Sierra connects with both old fans and new buyers.
The Tata Sierra comes with three engine options. Buyers can choose the 1.5L Kryojet diesel, the 1.5L TGDi Hyperion petrol, or the 1.5L NA Revotron petrol. This wide choice helps customers pick a version that suits their driving style. In addition, Tata positions the Sierra as a premium mid size SUV. It sits between the Tata Curvv and Tata Harrier in the company’s SUV range.
Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer at Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, said, "We sincerely thank our customers for this overwhelming response, which reaffirms the legendary status of the Tata Sierra. True to its legacy of redefining norms, the Sierra has pioneered a new category: the Premium Mid-SUV. Harnessing a deep understanding of evolving consumer aspirations, it reimagines what a mid-size SUV can be. By enriching every dimension—space, comfort, luxury, safety, and everyday usability- the Sierra elevates the segment to an entirely new benchmark. The Sierra is more than a vehicle—it stands as a symbol of progress, individuality, and aspiration."
The Tata Sierra starts at Rs 11.49 lakh. However, the top Accomplished Plus variant goes up to Rs 21.29 lakh. The SUV competes with popular models like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Honda Elevate. It uses Tata’s ARGOS platform, which supports different body styles and powertrains. Perhaps in the future, Tata may introduce a 7 seater or an AWD version, though the company has not shared timelines yet.
Tata Motors plans to launch a pure electric Sierra within six months of the petrol and diesel models. Meanwhile, deliveries will begin on January 15, 2026. However, the Sierra will face tough competition from the Hyundai Creta, which currently leads this segment. Even so, the strong booking numbers suggest the Sierra could change the game.
