Google News

The production of the Kushaq facelift by Skoda Auto Volkswagen India has begun at its manufacturing plant at Chakan, Pune. Following the global release of the updated SUV in January, the vehicle got its first significant update since its release in 2021. Although the official prices will be declared in a few weeks, Skoda has already assured that deliveries will start in March 2026.
Segment-First Characteristics and Mechanical Updates
The new Kushaq received many exterior and functional updates, aiming to keep it competitive in the mid-size SUV market. The most significant interior upgrade is a new segment-first rear-seat massage option and a panoramic sunroof. The exterior has been renewed with new design “Modern Solid” cues, with the addition of a new lit Front Grille. Also, the integrated LED taillights with sequential indicators and glowing SKODA lettering on the tailgate enhance exterior look.
The Skoda Kushaq has the same turbo-petrol line under the hood, only that the transmission section has changed significantly. The TSI 1.0 litre is now fitted to a new '8 speed' torque converter automatic transmission, instead of the older 6 speed.

The commencement of production at the Chakan plant establishes India’s role as a production and export hub for international markets. Skoda aims to position the Kushaq as a more sophisticated alternative to the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. With bookings already open at a token amount of Rs. 15,000, the brand's focus now shifts to the price announcement scheduled for late February.
