Skoda India has recently been officially confirmed to launch the performance SUV, Kodiaq RS, by June 2026. This new SUV is going to be the brand’s first SUV with the ‘RS’ badge in the Indian automotive market. Not only this, but the new Kodiaq RS also arrives with an increased engine power, sporty design, and performance oriented modifications. Moreover, Skoda will offer the Kodiaq RS in limited numbers and price it higher than the standard model. Also, the Kodiaq RS is likely to cost between Rs 55 lakh & Rs 60 lakh, ex-showroom.
The Skoda Kodiaq RS features an improved 2.0 liter TSI petrol engine, identical to the engine available in the Octavia RS model. The engine provides 265 hp & 400 Nm of torque, increasing greatly in comparison to the previous model. However, in the regular Kodiaq model, there is an observable decrease in power output. This makes it relatively faster in comparison to the other model variants.
The model features a 7 speed dual clutch gear changer along with an all wheel drive functionality. The vehicle also reaches 0 to 100 kph within 6.3 seconds only. The Kodiaq RS has its top speed at 231 kmph, which is quite fitting for an MUV like this model. In addition, Skoda has improved braking performance for better control. The front axle gets slotted brake discs with two piston callipers. Adaptive dampers are offered globally as standard equipment. However, Skoda has not confirmed this feature for the India spec model yet.
Visually, the Kodiaq RS looks sportier than the standard SUV with several design updates. The front bumper features a sharper layout with larger air intakes. Moreover, the grille gets a blacked out finish for a more aggressive stance. The side profile remains familiar but gains black detailing. These include dark roof rails, mirror caps, & window surrounds. In addition, the SUV rides on 20 inch alloy wheels with red brake callipers.
At the rear, the bumper design receives subtle changes while maintaining the Kodiaq’s overall shape. Inside the cabin, the RS variant follows an all black theme with red highlights. Moreover, the seats feature RS branding and offer stronger side support. The SUV also includes a 13 inch touchscreen and a digital driver display. It also has rotating control knobs that handle climate & volume functions.
The standard Kodiaq is assembled in India, but the RS will arrive as a CBU. Therefore, pricing is expected to be higher than the regular version. The Kodiaq RS is likely to cost between Rs 55 lakh & Rs 60 lakh, ex-showroom. Moreover, Kodiaq RS will compete with models like the Volkswagen Tayron R Line and MG Majestor.
