Mercedes-Benz CLA EV Arriving in April 2026

Mercedes-Benz is about to revive its CLA class series in India after discontinuing its fuel based car back in 2020. This time, it is featuring its nameplate in a strictly electric avatar, named Mercedes-Benz CLA EV. The model is likely to replace the A-Class limousine and work as a major entry point for its upcoming launches of EV cars in India.

This Mercedes EV car model is set to be launched in April 2026, featuring a sleek design and an advanced 800V architecture for charging.

What does the new Mercedes EV Car have to offer?

The brand new Mercedes Benz CLA EV is offering some distinctive features which are new to all EV cars in India. Have a look at them:

  • High-Efficiency MMA Platform

The CLA EV is the first vehicle built on the MMA platform. It provides 800V fast charging architecture, capable of charging up to 320 kW.

  • Strong Battery Providing Long Range

This India bound model will be equipped with an 85kWh battery going at least 792 kms in one charge (One of the longest-range EVs in India).

  • High Power Output Motors and Transmission

The electric sedan is expected to arrive in two main configurations:

  1. CLA 250+ (RWD): Single motor producing approximately 268 hp.
  2. CLA 350 4MATIC (AWD): Dual motors delivering a combined output of nearly 350 hp, capable of 0-100 km/h in under 5 seconds.

Transmission: Unlike most EVs, it uses a 2-speed transmission on the rear axle to balance low-speed acceleration with high-speed efficiency.

  • Design & Tech

The Mercedes Benz CLA EV has got a sleek design and an impressive interior. The exterior retains the signature CLA coupe-like roofline, frameless doors and a shark-nose front fascia with a star-patterned grille panel. The interior features the massive MBUX superscreen and a wide dashboard.

Mercedes Benz CLA EV Cost in India

The Mercedes EV car is expected to cost in the range of 60L - 70L (ex-showroom price), although the price may fluctuate. This may position it below the EQE sedan but slightly above entry-level crossovers like the BMW iX1.

It is important to note that states imposing road tax (such as Telangana) may have an increased price.

So, if you’re planning to buy EV cars in India of premium quality under 1Cr, Mercedes-Benz CLA EV can be an optimal choice. It avoids the converted-ICE feel of the cheaper EQA/EQB SUVs and brings S-Class technology down to a relatively more accessible price point.
