Mahindra Invests Rs. 15,000 Crore on its Upcoming Manufacturing Facility

Mahindra Group has announced an enormous 15,000 crore investment plan to put up its biggest integrated manufacturing facility in Maharashtra. At an event in Vidarbha (Maharashtra), the company unveiled its ambitious project promising to transform the region into a global automotive powerhouse. The future plant, which is planned to start operations in 2028, is part of “Make in India of the World” strategy of Mahindra.
Mahindra Nagpur Mega-Plant
The next plant at Nagpur will be the largest manufacturing presence of Mahindra, occupying a large 1,500 acres of land in Vidarbha.
Multi-Powertrain Flexibility
The Nagpur hub will be ultimate in terms of adaptability. It will be in a position to manufacture vehicles in various powertrains like Internal combustion Engines (ICE), Electric Vehicles (EVs), and new-propulsion technologies. This enables Mahindra to shift-based production according to the changing market needs. The plant, once fully operational, will have a capacity of producing more than 5 lakh vehicles annually.
Next-Gen NUiQ Architecture
The major highlight is the assistance of the NUiQ architecture, a next-generation platform developed by Mahindra which is a “multi-energy platform”. This high-tech platform will support a new portfolio of global SUVs, including Vision S, Vision X and Vision T concepts.
Farm Equipment Manufacturing
Apart from the manufacturing of passenger vehicles, the future plant will also focus on farm equipment. This Nagpur site will house a dedicated production of Tractors, aiming to become world’s largest tractor manufacturer. The integrated unit is expected to produce 1 Lakh units annually.
Regional Supplier Ecosystem
The investment extends beyond Nagpur, creating a comprehensive industrial network across Maharashtra. Two major supplier regions are allocated currently:
Sambhajinagar Supplier Park: Mahindra is building its 150-acre supplier park in Sambhajinagar. The park will work as a major distributing unit, further selling products to different locations in the country. This will improve localization and reduce costs.
Igatpuri-Nashik Expansion: Part of the same plan, Mahindra plans to acquire in the Igatpuri-Nashik region to scale up engine production.
The auto giant currently owns six major manufacturing plants all over India. Adding this one will boost the company’s presence in more remote parts of the country.
