
Passenger vehicle (PV) sales saw a strong recovery compared to the previous year, reaching 513,475 units with a 7.22% increase from 478,915 units in the same period last year. The growth was driven by improved vehicle availability and consistent consumer demand. Moreover, in MoM sales, the segment saw a 35.24% growth in sales.

Maruti Suzuki sold 216,043 units during the month, showing a .072% increase compared to 214,494 units last year. Strong demand for entry-level and compact models helped support the company’s overall performance. Also, Maruti Suzuki Victoris has sold over 50,000 units, which helped to boost the brand’s sales in the compact SUV segment.
Hyundai sold 65,914 units in January, marking a 7.18% increase over 61,497 units last year. However, the company’s market share declined by 0.03%. Steady demand for premium hatchbacks and SUVs continued to support the company’s growth.
Tata Motors recorded sales of 63,558 units during the month. In January 2025, Tata sold 54,885 units, marking a 15.80% growth. Continued demand for SUVs and growing interest in electric vehicles like the Tata Curvv EV helped support overall sales volumes.
Mahindra sold 63,366 units during the month, achieving a 15.39% year-on-year growth. Its market share also rose by 7.62%. Strong bookings for its SUV models continued to drive overall deliveries.
In January 2025, Toyota sold 30,900 units, while this year, 35,053 units were sold, recording a 13.44% increase compared to last year. The demand for hybrid vehicles and MPVs continued to support sales.
Kia India recorded sales of 29,954 units in January 2026, posting a 30.75% YoY growth from 22,909 units last year. Its SUV models like Seltos & Sonet continued to be the main contributors to overall volumes.
The group sold 9,794 units in January 2026, including 9,698 units from Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, 62 from Volkswagen India, 24 from Audi, and 10 from Skoda Auto India. Sales grew 2.43% year-on-year from last year’s 9,562 units.
MG Motor sold 5,926 units in January 2026, showing a 12.36% year-on-year decline. Limited supply and ongoing model transitions impacted overall sales volumes.
Honda sold 5,848 units in January 2026, recording a 26.61% degrowth compared to 7,968 units last year. However, its market share declined by 31.55%. Demand remained stable for its sedans and compact SUV models.
In January 2026, Renault sold 4,839 units, recording a strong 22.01% year-on-year growth, supported by its affordable offerings. On the other hand, Nissan sold 2,387 units during the month, posting a modest 8.26% decline compared to last year.
BMW sold 1,962 units in January 2026, recording a 7.33% year-on-year growth during the month. Meanwhile, in Jan 2026, Mercedes-Benz sold 1,806 units, including 1,710 units from Mercedes-Benz India, 95 from Mercedes-Benz AG, and 1 additional unit, marking a 3.01% annual decline. Overall, demand for luxury vehicles remained mixed across regions.
