
Passenger vehicle (PV) sales saw a strong recovery compared to the previous year, reaching 379,671 units with a 26.64% increase from 299,799 units in the same period last year. The growth was driven by improved vehicle availability and consistent consumer demand. However, in MoM sales, the segment saw a 4.24% decline in sales.

Maruti Suzuki sold 150,123 units during the month, showing a 27.37% increase compared to 117,861 units last year. Strong demand for entry-level and compact models helped support the company’s overall performance. Also, Maruti Suzuki Victoris won the ICOTY award and helped to boost the brand’s sales in the compact SUV segment.
Tata Motors recorded sales of 52,139 units during the month. In December 2024, Tata sold 38,482 units, marking a 35.49% increase. Continued demand for SUVs and growing interest in electric vehicles like the Tata Harrier EV helped support overall sales volumes.
Hyundai sold 48,413 units in December, marking a 20.14% increase over 40,298 units last year. However, the company’s market share declined by 5.14%. Steady demand for premium hatchbacks and SUVs continued to support the company’s growth.
Mahindra sold 47,882 units during the month, achieving a 29.23% year-on-year growth. Its market share also rose by 2.05%. Strong bookings for its SUV models continued to drive overall deliveries.
In December 2024, Toyota sold 20,434 units, while this year, 26,012 units were sold, recording a 27.30% increase compared to last year. The demand for hybrid vehicles and MPVs continued to support sales.
Kia India recorded sales of 20,568 units, posting a 14.94% YoY growth from 17,894 units last year. Its SUV models like Seltos & Sonet continued to be the main contributors to overall volumes.
The group sold 9,193 units during the month, including 9,090 units from Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, 55 from Volkswagen India, 14 from Audi, and 34 from Skoda Auto India. Sales grew 38.87% year-on-year from last year’s 6,620 units.
Honda sold 5,537 units in December, recording a 12.11% increase compared to 4,939 units last year. However, its market share declined by 11.48%. Demand remained stable for its sedans and compact SUV models.
MG Motor sold 4,178 units during the month, showing a 26.70% year-on-year decline. Limited supply and ongoing model transitions impacted overall sales volumes.
Renault sold 3,304 units, recording a strong 36.81% year-on-year growth, supported by its affordable offerings. On the other hand, Nissan sold 1,744 units during the month, posting a modest 3.32% growth compared to last year.
BMW sold 1,582 units, recording a 15.81% year-on-year growth during the month. Mercedes-Benz sold 1,361 units, including 1,281 units from Mercedes-Benz India, 76 from Mercedes-Benz AG, and 4 additional units, marking a 10.17% annual decline. Overall, demand for luxury vehicles remained mixed across regions.
