Volkswagen Taigun Facelift: First Design Renders Revealed
Google News

Volkswagen India is preparing for the official debut of the Taigun facelift on April 9, 2026. This mid-life update arrives as the SUV enters its fifth year. With this, it aims to compete against Hyundai Creta and Skoda Kushaq. The latest digital renderings, based on production-ready test mules, suggest a move toward a more "global" Volkswagen look.
While Taigun is in its way of facelift, the recent Skoda Kushaq Facelift may give some more insights.
Visual Overhaul and Cabin Upgrades
The 2026 model leaves the current "boxy" front-end for a smoother, more aerodynamic aesthetic inspired by the new Tiguan R-Line. Key specifications include:
- Sleeker Lighting: New "eyebrow" LED DRLs and a slimmer front grille. High-end trims will likely feature an illuminated VW logo and a full-width LED light bar.
- Modernized Rear: Updated LED taillights with revised internal graphics and a cleaner, less-cluttered bumper design.
- Panoramic Sunroof: Addressing a long-standing request, the facelift is expected to feature a panoramic sunroof across higher variants.
- Enhanced Comfort: The interior will likely gain premium additions such as a rear-seat massage function and an upgraded 10.25-inch digital cockpit.
Mechanical Updates and Performance
While the engine remains the same, a significant change is expected in how the entry-level power is delivered to the wheels.

The 8-speed automatic gearbox is expected to offer smoother performance and improved fuel economy compared to the current 6-speed unit. This is offered with the 1.0 litre engine while the 1.5 L engine will be offered with 7-speed DSG gearbox.
While ADAS is still a matter of confusion, other features like panoramic sunroof and 8-speed gearbox address major buyer feedback. All said, the April 9 debut will confirm if Volkswagen can finally bridge the feature gap with its Korean rivals.
