Compact sedans have remained a popular choice for buyers who want a car that is comfortable for daily driving and easy to handle on busy city roads. Over time, these sedans have also started offering more features, better cabin comfort and more than one fuel option. Tata has now entered this segment with the recently launched Aeris, competing with established models such as the Maruti Suzuki Dzire. Both use three-cylinder engines of 1.2 litres, but they differ in power, size, boot space and the features offered across their variants.

In this blog, we compare the Tata Aeris and Maruti Dzire across performance, features, space, safety and pricing.

Tata Aeris vs Maruti Dzire: Key Differences

The Tata Aeris uses a 1.2L Revotron three-cylinder petrol engine and also offers a CNG powertrain. Its CNG variants support direct starting in CNG mode and use a twin-cylinder layout beneath the boot floor, while both fuel options get 5-speed manual and automatic transmissions. This gives the Aeris the same transmission choice across its petrol and CNG variants.

Similarly, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire also gets a 1.2L three-cylinder engine, with its Z12E unit featuring ISS. Its CNG variants use a 55-litre water filling capacity, and like the Aeris, the Dzire offers both 5-speed manual and AMT options. The two models differ in their petrol and CNG output figures, with the detailed comparison shown below.

Tata Aeris vs Maruti Dzire: Price Comparison

Its lower starting price gives it an entry point below the Dzire, while the range extends close to the Dzire's top-end price. This makes the Aeris worth considering for buyers who want to keep the initial purchase cost lower.
