Range Rover Electric Booking Starts in India at Rs. 10 Lakh

JLR has officially unveiled the Range Rover Electric, marking the brand’s entry into the fully electric luxury SUV segment. Bookings are now open in India for a token amount of Rs. 10 lakh. The SUV will be available in multiple wheelbase and trim combinations. It retains the familiar Range Rover design while introducing a new electric powertrain and EV-specific technology. 

Range Rover Electric Gets 118.5kWh Battery

The Range Rover Electric is powered by a large 118.5kWh battery, paired with two permanent-magnet electric motors. The dual-motor setup provides all-wheel-drive capability and delivers strong output, with JLR quoting up to 551hp and 850Nm.

The 800-volt electrical system also supports faster charging, while the large battery helps the SUV achieve a claimed 600km WLTP range. The combination of a high-capacity battery and efficient electric powertrain gives the SUV a strong driving range.

Range Rover Electric Retains Off-Road Capability

Despite its electric powertrain, the SUV retains key all-terrain capabilities. Its Integrated Traction Management system can respond to changing surfaces within 50 milliseconds, while single-pedal driving allows it to tackle slopes of up to 45 degrees.

The SUV also offers a 900mm wading depth, matching the capability of its ICE-powered counterpart. It is based on the MLA-Flex platform, which also underpins the ICE and plug-in-hybrid Range Rover.

Familiar Design With EV-Specific Technology

The Range Rover Electric closely resembles its ICE counterpart, with an aero-optimised grille and wheels being the main exterior changes. There is no “Electric” lettering on the body, while the cabin retains the familiar dashboard and centre-console layout.

The SUV gets an AI-based range predictor and a digital twin system that monitors battery health and other vehicle data. Buyers can choose the standard-wheelbase Autobiography, long-wheelbase SV, SV Ultra and SV Black versions, along with a First Edition.

Prices for the Range Rover Electric in India are yet to be announced. It will compete with luxury electric SUVs such as the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, Volvo EX90 and BMW iX.

The upcoming Mitsubishi Pajero 2026 SUV is another notable premium SUV to watch in the Indian market.
