BMW Group India has officially introduced the Mini Convertible JCW (John Cooper Works) Pack priced at Rs. 61.50 lakh (ex-showroom). This new variant integrates the open-top driving experience of the standard Convertible with the aggressive aesthetic and performance-oriented enhancements. This seems similar with the John Cooper Works trim. The model arrives as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), maintaining Mini’s strategy of offering specialized, low-volume performance editions to Indian enthusiasts.
Technical Specifications and Design Enhancements
The Mini Convertible JCW Pack is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo petrol engine. This powertrain generates 228bhp and a peak torque of 320Nm, enabling the vehicle to accelerate from 0-100km/h in approximately 6.5 seconds. The engine is mated to an eight-speed Steptronic sport transmission, featuring paddle shifters for manual intervention.
Key highlights of the JCW Pack include:
- Exterior Styling: The package adds a JCW-specific aerodynamic kit, including modified front and rear bumpers, side skirts, and a distinct honeycomb grille.
- Wheels and Tyres: It sits on 18-inch JCW Course Spoke 2-tone light-alloy wheels equipped with run-flat tyres.
- Interior Upgrades: The cabin features JCW sports seats with integrated headrests, a JCW walknappa leather steering wheel, and stainless-steel pedal covers.
- Technology: The dashboard is anchored by an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay, paired with a Harmon Kardon Hi-Fi speaker system.
- Roof Mechanism: The classic textile soft-top is fully electric and can be opened or closed within 18 seconds at speeds of up to 30km/h.
The launch of the Mini Convertible JCW Pack shows the brand's commitment towards the niche segment of buyers prioritizing individualistic styling. The high-output JCW engine with a convertible body style bridges the gap between a lifestyle cruiser and a track-inspired hatchback. This introduction is expected to strengthen Mini’s premium position in India where convertible segment where direct competition remains limited.
