Kia India Extends Carens Clavis EV Battery Warranty to 15 Years
Google News

New Delhi, India | September 16, 2026: Kia India has announced an extended 15-year High Voltage (HV) battery cover with no kilometre limit for the Carens Clavis EV. The updated warranty applies to first owners of vehicles retailed on or after August 1, 2026. Meanwhile, eligible customers who already own the electric MPV can opt to upgrade their existing 8-year/1,60,000 km battery coverage to 15 years with unlimited kilometres.
The move gives Carens Clavis EV owners longer protection for the vehicle’s HV battery, which remains a key part of an electric powertrain. It also provides additional coverage against potential battery-related expenses over the long term. However, the 15-year unlimited-kilometre benefit is available only to the first owner of a privately used vehicle. Commercial applications, including taxis and fleet vehicles, are not covered under this extended plan.
For second owners and commercial vehicles, Kia India will retain the existing HV battery coverage of 8 years or 1,60,000 km, whichever occurs first.
Existing Carens Clavis EV Owners Can Extend Warranty
Kia India has also extended the new warranty option to eligible customers who purchased their Carens Clavis EV before August 1, 2026. These customers can choose to extend their existing 8-year/1,60,000 km warranty to 15 years with unlimited kilometres.
However, the extension is optional and comes with a nominal administrative fee of ₹3,400, including all taxes. Customers must meet the applicable terms and conditions, while the vehicle will also go through an evaluation. Eligible owners can check the details and their eligibility with their respective Kia dealers.
Speaking on the announcement, Atul Sood, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Kia India, said, “At Kia, our focus has always been on making electric mobility more accessible, dependable and rewarding for our customers. The Lifetime High Voltage Battery Warranty for the Carens Clavis EV reflects our confidence in the quality and durability of our battery technology and strengthens the long-term value of owning a Kia EV.
Atul Sood said that extending the enhanced battery warranty to eligible existing Clavis EV customers reflects Kia India’s commitment to supporting them throughout their ownership journey. He added that the extended coverage addresses a key consideration for EV buyers and gives customers greater confidence in adopting electric mobility.
The battery warranty adds to the ownership benefits already offered with the Carens Clavis EV. In addition, Kia India offers its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) programme, which allows customers to finance the vehicle and battery separately. This can help reduce the upfront cost of purchasing an electric vehicle.
Kia India Expands EV Charging and Service Support
Kia India also continues to support Carens Clavis EV customers through K-Charge, its EV charging ecosystem available through the MyKia app and Kia India website. The platform brings together more than 20,300 charging points from 23 Charge Point Operators, allowing customers to find charging stations, navigate to them and make payments through a single wallet.
Furthermore, Kia India has more than 129 dealerships equipped with high-capacity DC fast chargers and over 275 EV-ready workshops. Its wider service network includes more than 900 customer touchpoints across 400 cities.
The Carens Clavis EV is Kia India’s first made-in-India electric vehicle. Since its launch, the company says the electric MPV has received an encouraging response from customers. Built on the Carens platform, the EV combines a spacious, family-focused design with electric mobility.
With the new battery warranty, BaaS programme and charging and service support, Kia India continues to expand the ownership support around the Carens Clavis EV. The 15-year unlimited kilometre warranty now gives first owners longer coverage for the HV battery, while eligible existing customers can also opt for the extended coverage under the applicable terms and conditions.
CarJunction’s Insights
Kia India’s 15-year unlimited-kilometre HV battery warranty gives Carens Clavis EV first owners longer battery coverage than the earlier 8-year/1,60,000 km warranty. For eligible existing owners, the optional extension also provides a way to continue battery coverage for up to 15 years. However, customers should check the applicable terms, conditions and vehicle evaluation requirements with Kia dealers before opting for the extension.
