Upcoming Jeep SUV Teased: Major Collaboration With Tata Motors
Google News

Stellantis has signaled a major strategic shift for the Jeep brand in India. The automaker has revealed plans for a collaborative move with Tata to launch an SUV by 2028. During a recent APAC strategy presentation, the automotive conglomerate teased a boxy, rugged SUV, looking at which explains big development. The upcoming SUV is expected to be underpinned by a Tata-derived architecture which is likely the modular ARGOS platform.
Slated for a 2028 debut, this new model is set to transform India into a global production hub. If the plan goes well, this joint venture will help export the vehicle to over 50 international markets.
Collaboration, Platform and Design
The core follows a "capex-light" strategy, utilizing the existing 50:50 joint venture between Stellantis and Tata Motors at the Ranjangaon facility. By adopting Tata’s ARGOS platform*, Jeep gains access to a modular base that supports All-Wheel Drive (AWD). This is a non-negotiable trait for the brand’s "Trail Rated" identity.
Leaked teaser images showcase a signature Jeep aesthetic, featuring a boxy silhouette, an upright stance, and an illuminated seven-slat grille. The SUV is expected to offer diverse powertrain options, including Internal Combustion Engines (ICE), hybrids, and fully electric versions.
* ARGOS Platform is the same architecture used for the upcoming Tata Sierra.
Project Highlights:
- Platform: Likely Tata ARGOS (Modular & AWD capable)
- Production Hub: Ranjangaon Plant, Maharashtra
- Global Reach: Targeted for export to 50+ countries
- Estimated Launch: 2028
