
The Indian Passenger Vehicle (PV) segment achieved a landmark performance in FY’26, with total retail sales reaching 47,05,056 units. This marks a significant 13.00% Year-on-Year (YoY) growth compared to the 41,63,927 units retailed in FY’25. A major highlight of the year was the structural shift in demand, where rural PV retail grew by 17.12%, outperforming the 10.43% growth seen in urban markets.

Maruti Suzuki solidified its leadership by retailing 18,68,386 units in FY’26, up from 16,73,729 units in FY’25. The company maintained a dominant 39.71% market share and achieved a strong 11.63% YoY growth. Key factors driving the growth are its vast product range and deep market penetration.
Mahindra & Mahindra saw exceptional growth, retailing 6,31,638 units in FY’26 compared to 5,17,081 units in FY’25. With a 22.15% YoY growth, the brand captured a 13.42% market share, fueled by high demand for its rugged SUV lineup.
Tata Motors recorded annual retail sales of 6,13,513 units in FY’26, up from 5,35,863 units in the previous year. The brand secured a 13.04% market share and a 14.49% YoY growth, bolstered by its popular SUV range and leadership in the electric vehicle segment.
Hyundai Motor India retailed 5,78,337 units during the financial year, a growth from 5,61,103 units in FY’25. The manufacturer maintained a steady presence with a 12.29% market share and a 3.07% YoY growth for the year.
Toyota showed stellar annual performance, reaching 3,35,321 units in FY’26, a significant increase from 2,78,458 units in FY’25. The brand’s market share grew to 7.13%, supported by an impressive 20.42% YoY growth.
Kia India retailed 2,79,363 units in FY’26, up from 2,42,884 units in FY’25. The manufacturer achieved a 15.02% YoY growth, maintaining a healthy 5.94% market share through its technology-driven SUV and MPV offerings.
The group (primarily Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd) retailed 1,10,070 units in FY’26, compared to 84,810 units in FY’25. This reflects a 2.34% market share and a steady 29.78% YoY growth for the financial year.
JSW MG Motor retailed 66,080 units in FY’26, showing growth from 57,893 units in the previous year. The brand captured a 1.40% market share and achieved a robust 14.14% YoY growth as it continues to drive the electric powertrain transition.
Honda Cars India recorded retail sales of 60,826 units during the financial year, compared to 64,972 units in FY’25. The brand maintained a 1.29% market share although saw a decline of 6.38% YoY.
Renault India retailed 39,060 units in FY’26, reflecting a marginal gain from the 38,655 units sold in FY’25. The brand maintained a steady presence in the compact segment, achieving a 1.05% YoY growth and holding a 0.83% market share.
Nissan India retailed 22,505 units during the financial year, witnessing a decline from the 24,961 units recorded in FY’25. This performance represents a 9.84% YoY decrease, with the manufacturer closing the year with a 0.48% market share.
The luxury segment saw consistent performance, led by Mercedes-Benz Group with 18,160 units (0.39% share). BMW India Pvt Ltd followed closely with 17,301 units (0.37% share), while Jaguar Land Rover India retailed 5,698 units.
