Toyota Vellfire Achieves a Sales of 5,000 Units in India

The Toyota Vellfire has reached a significant landmark in the Indian luxury automotive market, surpassing the 5,000-unit sales milestone. Since its initial launch in February 2020, this self-charging hybrid MPV has redefined the premium chauffeur-driven segment. This is with more than half of its total sales occurring in just the last two years.

Surge in Demand for Luxury Hybrid Mobility

The second-generation Vellfire, which was launched in August 2023, has been the primary catalyst for this growth. While early sales remained in the low hundreds, the sales shooted after the pandemic, which showed a shift toward high-end luxury and sustainable mobility. Fiscal Year 2026 emerged as the model's strongest period yet, with 1483 units dispatched. This is a 56% increase over the previous year.

The following table highlights the year-on-year sales trajectory of the Vellfire in India:

The Vellfire's success is attributed to its "Executive Lounge" experience, which rivals first-class air travel. It positions itself as a flagship offering, sharing its TNGA-K platform underpinnings with the ultra-luxury Lexus LM.

Key Specifications & Features:

  • Engine: 2.5-litre, four-cylinder strong-hybrid petrol engine.
  • Performance: Combined output of 193hp and 240Nm torque, paired with an e-CVT.
  • Efficiency: An impressive ARAI-certified fuel economy of 19.28 kpl.
  • Luxury Tech: A 14-inch touchscreen, powered Ottoman seats, and a 15-speaker JBL sound system.
