Nissan Tekton Set for India Debut on July 9

Nissan India has confirmed that its upcoming mid-size SUV, the Tekton, will make its official debut on July 9, 2026. The brand marks re-entry into the highly competitive C-segment after the discontinuation of the Kicks. Carefully analysing, the Tekton is the spiritual successor to the Terrano. It is built on the shared RGMP architecture, the same platform underpinning the new-generation Renault Duster.

Patrol-Inspired Styling and Premium Interiors

The Tekton distinguishes itself with a design language inspired by Nissan’s flagship Patrol SUV. The front fascia features an upright stance with a wide grille, double chrome strips, and connected LED DRLs. Distinctive C-shaped LED headlights and a muscular bonnet with "TEKTON" branding further define its road presence. In profile, the SUV sports 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and hidden rear door handles for a sleek, three-door look.

Inside, the Tekton is expected to offer a multi-layered dashboard with a three-tone color scheme. High-end features likely to be included are a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster and a panoramic sunroof. Safety will be a key focus, with Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera and 6-airbags expected on higher trims.

Engine Specifications and Performance

The Tekton will share its powertrain lineup with the Renault Duster. The base variants are expected to feature a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 100hp and 166Nm of torque. Higher specifications will likely utilize a 1.3-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol motor, delivering 160hp and 280Nm. Transmission duties will be handled by a 6-speed manual as standard, with a 6-speed DCT available for the more powerful engine. A strong-hybrid variant may follow later.

The Nissan Tekton is a pivotal launch for the company as it seeks to regain market share in the SUV segment. The model leverages a shared platform while maintaining a unique, premium identity inspired by its larger global SUVs. Through this, Nissan aims to directly challenge established players like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
