Google News

- First design sketches of the upcoming BAYON SUV.
- The vehicle adopts Hyundai’s evolving ‘Art of Steel’ design language.
- Sketches reveal a futuristic, tech-focused cabin.
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has unveiled the first exterior and interior design sketches of the BAYON. This is after the recent announcement of the vehicle’s official moniker. Developed as an Intelligent Utility Vehicle, this Hyundai car aims to reimagine daily mobility by bringing authentic SUV confidence and athletic versatility directly to urban environments.
Architectural Exterior & Tech-Driven Cabin

The exterior sketches showcase a strong, modern silhouette crafted under Hyundai's evolving "Art of Steel" design philosophy. It focuses on shaping steel into forms that convey strength and fluid movement. The front of the SUV highlights a heavily sculpted hood, pronounced fender volumes and a distinctive H-Edge lighting signature. This visually emphasizes its broad stance. Sharp character lines and impressive lower body cladding complete the rugged aesthetic, giving it an athletic presence tailored for city streets and highways alike.
Inside, the BAYON previews an intelligently crafted cabin structured specifically for tech-savvy drivers. The interior layout prioritizes clean geometry, intuitive ergonomics, and advanced infotainment integration. Hyundai has focused on creating a high-tech visual environment where connected technology, comfortable seating, and premium materials converge to enhance the everyday driving experience for commuters.
- Visual Signatures: Features a sculpted hood, signature H-Edge lighting, and pronounced fender arches.
- Urban Focus: Combines the command, capability, and emotional appeal of an SUV with the compact agility needed for daily city navigation.
- Connected Tech: Seamlessly integrates digital displays and smart connectivity features within an intuitive cabin layout.
Highlighting the vision behind the design, Mr. Simon Loasby, Senior Vice President & Head of Hyundai Design Center, stated:
“As we introduce BAYON to India, we wanted it to make a confident first impression. Our goal was to create an Intelligent Utility Vehicle, where intelligent technology and thoughtful design come together for modern urban lifestyles. A high-tech interior within a tough exterior. The sculpted hood, bold fender volumes and distinctive H-Edge lighting create a strong and unmistakable presence, giving BAYON a character that feels capable, modern and distinctly its own.”
Car Junction's Insights
By positioning the BAYON as an intelligent, tech-first SUV, it targets young urban buyers seeking both distinctive style and daily practical utility. Entering an increasingly crowded compact segment, the vehicle's commercial success will largely depend on aggressive pricing against established rivals and feature offerings. However, its bold SUV proportions, strong design identity and strong connected tech package provide Hyundai with a strong foundation to capture market share and drive significant volume growth.
Before Hyundai revealed the official design sketches, the new Hyundai Bayon SUV was spotted testing, offering an early glimpse of what was coming.
