Google News

Volvo is set to launch the EX90 electric SUV and ES90 electric sedan in India on October 12, 2026. Both models will become the brand’s flagship electric offerings in their respective body styles and will be based on Volvo’s SPA2 800V architecture.
The EX90 is positioned as the electric alternative to the XC90 in Volvo’s SUV lineup. The ES90 is the electric successor to the S90 sedan, which was discontinued in India in 2025. Both models will bring long-range batteries, powerful electric motors and advanced technology to Volvo’s India lineup.
Volvo EX90 To Get Up To 608 Km Range
The Volvo EX90 is positioned as the electric alternative to the XC90 and measures 5,037 mm in length, 1,964 mm in width and 1,744 mm in height. It gets a 2,985 mm wheelbase, along with a closed-off grille, flush door handles, C-shaped tail lights and 20- to 22-inch aero wheels. The SUV also features Volvo’s latest Thor’s Hammer headlights, with the main headlamp units hidden behind the DRLs.
Volvo EX90 Battery, Performance And Features
The EX90 gets two battery options, while its cabin follows Volvo’s minimalist design with a large portrait touchscreen. It can be configured with six- or seven-seat layouts and offers a 384-litre boot along with a 45-litre frunk. The key specifications include:
- 92 kWh battery: Single rear motor producing 333 bhp and 480 Nm.
- Range: Up to 565 km with the 92 kWh battery.
- 106 kWh battery: Dual motors producing up to 680 bhp and 870 Nm.
- Range: Up to 608 km with the 106 kWh battery.
- Acceleration: 0-100 km/h in around four seconds.
- Displays: 14.5-inch touchscreen, 9-inch driver display and 13.2-inch head-up display.
Volvo ES90 Offers Up To 696 Km Range
The Volvo ES90 shares its platform and powertrain options with the EX90 but gets a more aerodynamic sedan body. It features a closed-off grille, Thor’s Hammer headlights, vertical fog lights, C-shaped rear tail lights and wheels measuring up to 22 inches. Its claimed drag coefficient stands at 0.25 Cd.
The ES90 uses the same 92 kWh and 106 kWh battery options as the EX90, but its lower weight and aerodynamic design help it achieve a higher claimed range. The 92 kWh version offers up to 664 km, while the 106 kWh version can deliver up to 696 km on a single charge.
ES90 Gets Five-Seat Cabin
The ES90 is offered as a five-seater and gets a 424-litre boot along with a 27-litre frunk. Its dashboard layout is similar to the EX90, while the centre console gets two additional physical buttons and an enclosed storage space. Key features include:
- Battery options: 92 kWh and 106 kWh units.
- Range: Up to 664 km with the 92 kWh battery.
- Maximum range: Up to 696 km with the 106 kWh battery.
- Boot space: 424 litres with a 27-litre frunk.
- Connectivity: 5G connectivity, digital key and OTA updates.

What To Expect From Volvo’s New EVs?
Volvo is yet to reveal the India-specific pricing and final specifications of the EX90 and ES90. The company is expected to announce more details about their variants and equipment closer to the launch. The two models will expand Volvo’s premium electric portfolio in India with different body styles and seating configurations.
