Thar 3-Door Facelift Spied with Roxx-Inspired Design Updates
Google News

The iconic Mahindra Thar 3-door is set for its first major mid-life refresh since its launch in 2020. Recent sightings of a camouflaged test mule have confirmed that Mahindra is working on facelifting Thar, with smaller size. These updates are expected to modernize the SUV’s aesthetic while enhancing its premium appeal. This might be done to stay competitive against the Force Gurkha and Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
Visual Overhaul and Shared Components
The most significant changes are concentrated on the front fascia. The leaked images reveal a new six-slot grille design that mimics the one seen on the Thar Roxx. Furthermore, the 3-door version will finally take it from halogen units to more advanced lighting systems.
Key design and feature expectations based on the latest sightings include:
- LED Lighting Suite: The facelift will likely feature circular LED headlamps with integrated C-shaped DRLs and LED fog lamps.
- Revised Bumpers: Both front and rear bumpers are expected to receive subtle reprofiling to accommodate new sensor placements.
- New Alloy Wheels: High-spec variants are seen testing with a fresh 18-inch alloy wheel design, possibly borrowed from the Roxx.
- Interior Tech: The cabin is anticipated to receive a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital instrument cluster.

The Thar 3-door facelift is expected to retain its high-performance engine lineup. Mahindra is unlikely to alter the mechanical formula that has made the SUV a bestseller. This includes the 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol engine and the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. Both 4WD and RWD (Rear-Wheel Drive) configurations will continue to be offered. This ensures that the SUV remains accessible to both off-road enthusiasts and lifestyle urban buyers.
While a specific launch date hasn't been announced, the test mules suggest a market debut in late-2025 or early-2026.
