Summarize this blog post with:

New Delhi, September 29, 2026: Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam, Statiq and GLIDA have inaugurated the city’s first public EV charging station. The station is part of 20 planned locations.

The first phase will add 100 public charging points across the Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam area. The rollout follows a public private partnership (PPP) model. The initiative aims to make EV charging more accessible for residents, daily commuters and visitors. Charging services will be offered at a nominal cost.

Under the partnership, Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam will provide land for the charging infrastructure. Private partners will develop and operate the charging facilities.

Key Details Of The EV Charging Rollout

  • First station: Ghaziabad’s first public EV charging station has been inaugurated.
  • Locations: EV charging infrastructure is planned across 20 locations.
  • Charging points: The first phase will include 100 public charging points.
  • PPP model: Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam will provide land, while private partners develop and operate facilities.
  • Nominal charging cost: Services will be offered at a nominal cost for public users.
  • Target users: The network will serve residents, daily commuters and visitors.
  • GLIDA network: GLIDA operates more than 1,000 charging points across India.

100 Charging Points Planned Across Ghaziabad

The first phase covers 20 locations identified for EV charging infrastructure across the city. The charging points will be available for public use.

For EV owners, more public chargers could reduce dependence on home charging. This can also help commuters who need charging during daily travel. The consumer focused model will offer charging at a nominal cost. This could make public charging more practical for people without convenient home charging access.

The move comes as Ghaziabad works to strengthen infrastructure for electric mobility. It also supports the city’s efforts to promote cleaner mobility.

What the PPP Model Means For EV Users

The PPP arrangement combines civic infrastructure support with private sector expertise. Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam is providing land for the charging facilities.

Statiq and GLIDA will develop and operate the charging infrastructure. The model aims to create more accessible charging facilities across key locations.

Akshay Ahuja, AVP – Business, Statiq, said, “The transition to electric mobility needs charging infrastructure that fits into the way people actually travel and use their vehicles.”

He added, “The inauguration of the first station marks the beginning of the planned rollout in Ghaziabad, with the objective of making charging facilities more readily available across the city.”

EV Charging Network Faces Growing Demand

Deepak Paliwal, CEO, GLIDA, said, “In Ghaziabad, 20 locations have been identified for the deployment of EV charging infrastructure.”

He added, “This collaboration demonstrates how public private partnerships can contribute to building a stronger and more accessible EV ecosystem in cities.”

GLIDA currently operates more than 1,000 charging points across India, according to the company. The expanded network will support EV users across different vehicle categories. These include electric scooters, motorcycles and electric cars such as the Tata Nexon EV, Hyundai Creta Electric and MG Windsor EV.

What It Means For EV Buyers

More public chargers can make EV ownership easier for people who cannot rely only on home charging.

However, charging costs and availability will still depend on individual stations and usage requirements. The 100 planned points will expand public charging access across Ghaziabad.

Car Junction Insights

Ghaziabad’s new EV charging rollout could make electric vehicle ownership more practical for residents and daily commuters. The planned 100 charging points may reduce concerns around public charging access. However, actual convenience will depend on station locations, availability, charging speeds and costs. The PPP model could also support faster infrastructure expansion.
