Skoda Commences Deliveries of Kodiaq RS in India

Skoda Auto India has officially started customer deliveries of its newly launched performance flagship, the Kodiaq RS. Priced at Rs. 66.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the limited-run SUV sold out its entire 50-unit allocation shortly after bookings opened.

Key Details and Initial Deliveries

The initial delivery of the performance SUV was completed in a Steel Grey paint scheme.

  • Color Options: The SUV is offered in four colors: Steel Grey, Moon White, Velvet Red, and Magic Black.
  • Variant Strategy: Skoda offers the vehicle in a single, fully loaded specification.
  • Market Status: All 50 units imported for the Indian market are fully booked.

Upgraded Powertrain and Performance

The Skoda Kodiaq RS badging brings notable mechanical upgrades over the standard Kodiaq.

The vehicle is powered by a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder, TSI turbo-petrol engine. This unit produces 261bhp and 400Nm of torque. It represents an increase of 60bhp and 80Nm compared to the standard model.

Power is directed to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) and Skoda's 4x4 system.

Premium Equipment and Technology

As a top-tier flagship model, the performance SUV comes equipped with a comprehensive list of premium features.

  • Exterior Elements: Equipped with matrix LED headlamps, 20-inch alloy wheels, and red brake calipers.
  • Cabin and Comfort: Features a panoramic sunroof, front sport seats, and an all-black theme with contrasting red stitching.
  • Technology Suite: Packs a 12.9-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument console, and a 360-degree camera.
  • Safety Gear: Standard features include nine airbags, Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC), and adaptive cruise control.

The swift sell-out of the first 50 Kodiaq RS units highlights a strong appetite for premium performance SUVs in India. While its premium pricing positions it as a niche offering, the vehicle establishes a stronger high-performance presence for the brand. This is before it considers bringing wider product volumes to the market.
