Renault Duster Debuts in India at Rs. 10.49 Lakh

Renault India has officially re-entered into the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment with the launch of the second-generation Duster. The iconic SUV returns with an introductory starting price of ₹10.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Built on the new Renault Global Modular Platform (RGMP), the 2026 Duster features extensive India-specific design modifications. This also features a significant leap in cabin technology compared to its predecessor.

Modern Design and India-Specific Styling

The new-generation Duster retains its signature rugged silhouette but adopts a more premium and aggressive aesthetic. Notably, the Indian version features unique styling elements that differ from the global Dacia model. This includes a distinctive connected LED light bar at the rear.

Key exterior and platform highlights include:

  • Front Fascia: Sleek LED DRLs with "DUSTER" lettering featured prominently on the grille.
  • Off-road Readiness: A segment-leading ground clearance of 212mm and 18-inch alloy wheels.
  • Color Palette: Six available shades, including the new signature ‘Jade Mountain Green’.
  • Chassis: The first vehicle in India to utilize the RGM platform, focusing on structural rigidity and improved ride quality.

Tech-Forward Cabin and Powertrain Options

The interior undergoes a complete overhaul, moving away from the utilitarian roots of the previous model to a dual-screen, feature-rich layout. For the first time, Renault is introducing Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) to its Indian lineup.

The SUV is launched with two primary engine configurations, with a third hybrid variant slated for a festive season debut:

  • 1.0L Turbo Petrol: 100 PS / 160 Nm (6-speed Manual).
  • 1.3L Turbo Petrol: 163 PS / 280 Nm (6-speed Manual or DCT).
  • Safety & Comfort: Six airbags as standard, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and a 360-degree 3D camera.
  • Infotainment: 10.1-inch touchscreen with Google built in and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.

The return of the Duster badge is a strategic move by Renault to reclaim its position. The newly launched car is expected to compete against currently dominating Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Renault is targeting both driving enthusiasts and value-conscious families by offering the 163 PS engine (most powerful in its class). The base variants may be available to you immediately. However, the "sold out" status of the upcoming 1.8L hybrid suggests high consumer interest in Renault's future electrified offerings.
