Mini has officially introduced the Cooper S Victory Edition in the Indian market, priced at Rs 57.5 lakh (ex-showroom). This limited-run model serves as a tribute to the legendary number 52 Mini Cooper. That car made history by securing a momentous win at the 1965 Monte Carlo Rally. Available as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), the edition features exclusive aesthetic enhancements inspired by the original rally winner.
Heritage-Inspired Exterior and Interior Design
The Victory Edition distinguishes itself through a series of bespoke visual updates. Finished in an exclusive Chili Red paint, the vehicle mirrors the 1965 rally car’s livery. It features a contrasting white roof, though a black roof with a panoramic sunroof is available as an option. Key exterior highlights include:
- Decals & Badging: The number ‘52’ is displayed on the sides, with ‘1965’ decals on the D-pillars and tailgate.
- Racing Stripes: A signature white stripe runs from the bonnet across the roof to the tailgate.
- JCW Package: Includes the John Cooper Works (JCW) aerodynamic kit, featuring gloss black exterior trim, blacked-out Mini emblems and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the cabin continues the commemorative theme. The door sills feature ‘1965 Victory Edition’ lettering, while the door jambs recall the winning crew: driver Timo Mäkinen and co-driver Paul Easter.
Performance and Technical Specifications
While the Victory Edition receives extensive cosmetic changes, it remains mechanically identical to the standard Cooper S. It is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that delivers 204hp and 300Nm of torque.
